Campus Climate Surveys are conducted every 3-5 years and ask students, staff, and faculty about their perceptions of their campus experience. The information helps community members and administrators understand how the university supports its constituents through its policies and practices.
The data also helps decision makers improve the quality of the campus environment across all components. Cultural Awareness Conversations is a group of faculty, staff, and administrators from various departments around campus who meet once a month to share stories, learn from each other, social norms and cultural differences, and deepen connections across LMU departments.
community The goal of this project is to develop intergroup relations, including conversations and dialogues around difference. At System Analysis Report sessions, ongoing units share their work and receive feedback from the community. All units may report or participate in the workshop.

Report Out Sessions
This is a space for faculty and staff to respond to the process, discuss larger issues and developments, and provide feedback to each other. Participants will benefit from reports for examples and methodologies that guide their processes.
Focusing on relatively small changes in course design, this workshop will teach teachers how to reconfigure an entire course using the TILT (Transparency in Learning and Teaching) method. —— helps to change. Workshop participants will learn to review curriculum and develop a set of informal tools for monitoring student progress, while also allowing students to assess their mastery of course material.
LMU’s Anti-Racism Seminar Series is part of the university’s larger effort to create an institution that embodies LMU’s commitment to inclusive and anti-racist education. To make the culture change necessary to address the long history of structural racism in our society and our educational systems, we must ask ourselves to dig deep at LMU and do the hard work of confronting our personal and institutional inequities.

All dates are covered. Calendars through Fall 2012 can be found in University Bulletins in PDF. The purpose of the systemic analysis process is to examine how barriers are “baked into” our systems and structures and to uncover the often invisible barriers to fully meeting the needs of all of our students, especially those who are minority and/or marginalized in our community.
In doing so, we shift our perspective to ask, “How do we change our students to better fit the demands of our system?” to “how do we adapt our institutional structures and processes to be more equitable, responsive, and inclusive to meet the needs of all our students?”
From this level of reflection, we can begin to identify issues that we need to act on. Then we commit to specific actions and determine how we will succeed in our efforts. Classic consulting workshops discuss the eight stages of the systems analysis process.
These workshops are recommended for units starting the process and others for specific advice on specific steps. Contact the DEI office at [email protected] to schedule a workshop.
