Ladder said the calendar committee will meet again Dec. 2 to review public comments and make any necessary corrections or changes to the calendar before presenting the final version to the council for a Dec. 21 vote.

Spring break for students is from Wednesday, April 13th to Tuesday, April 19th, and students return to class on April 20th. On April 14 and 19, teachers will participate in professional development. David Bauer asked about voting at the board’s first December meeting, scheduled for Dec. 7.

He noted how close the December 21st meeting was to Christmas and that some of last year’s meetings were canceled due to bad weather. Member Patrice Ricciardi, referring to questions from the public on social media, asked why next year since this year’s snow day has been included due to the Covid-19 pandemic, “we are in a virtual learning environment”.
Lader said the final calendar could be submitted by Dec. 7, “but it’s going to be difficult,” noting whether he would have enough time to submit all the necessary materials because the committee meets five days early.

Board before the meeting. The Thanksgiving holiday begins with an early dismissal on Wednesday, November 24, and schools and offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 25 and 26. On Thursday, December 23, early dismissal also marks the start of the winter break.
Students and staff are coming back. Monday, January 3, 2022. The calendar, developed by members of the Board’s appointed Calendar Committee, includes a Wednesday, September 8, 2021, post-Labor start date for the next school year. Kindergarten through 12th grade classes begin on Wednesday, as the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah falls the day before Tuesday, September 7th – Labor Day falls on Monday, September 6th.

Schools and offices will be closed for one day on federal holidays, including Martin Luther King Day in January, Presidents’ Day in February, Memorial Day in May and the Jewish high holiday of Yom Kippur on September 16.
Early dismissal on Veterans Day, November 11. The high school graduation window in 2023 is Thursday, May 18th through Thursday, June 1st. The Meriwether Post will work with the pavilion to determine specific dates and times for each graduation ceremony and will provide them as they become available.
