If approved by the Jefferson County Board of Education, classes at JCPS will begin Aug. 10 for teachers and Aug. 25 for students. The last day of classes will be May 27 if the board approves the changes discussed at Wednesday’s meeting.

No vote was taken at Wednesday’s meeting, but Jimmy Adams, JCPS director of human resources, said he would prepare the changes for a recommendation before the Jefferson County Board of Education at the July 21 meeting.

JCPS board members also discussed Tuesday the new student placement plan, which would give children living in the West End the opportunity to attend closer schools, as well as student enrollment projections for the upcoming school year.

Fall vacation from September 29 to October 1, winter vacation from December 20 to December 31, and spring vacation from April 4 to 8 are all included in the calendar, except for several holidays.
