Ole Miss Academic Calender – The university operates on a Semister system. The fall semester begins in mid-August and ends in mid-December. The spring semester begins in mid-January and ends in early May. A detailed college calendar is available from the registrar’s office and the Web Academic Calendar.

The advisor’s role is to assist students in course selection and to approve student schedules. However, the student bears final responsibility for making appropriate choices when scheduling classes, including any schedule changes made during the drop-out period.

The Faculty Council approves all undergraduate courses, programs and academic rules applicable to this level of study. Likewise, the Graduate Council approves all graduate courses, programs, and academic rules governing research at the graduate and professional levels.

For more information on course and curriculum changes, the undergraduate and graduate course approval process, see the Policy Directory. The Summer Semester consists of 2 periods of approximately 4 weeks each with the same amount of instructional time as a regular Semester.
