Holiday And Leave Benefits
Please note: All download/add dates and refunds listed below refer to full 16-week semester classes. Short courses and other courses with different start/end dates than the main 16-week semester have unique submit/add dates and refunds. Military leave is time off from work for the purpose of serving in the military or filling reserves or National Guard duty.
Employees may maintain ties to OSU for up to five years. This means that certain benefits will continue to not be cancelled. Staff on nine and eleven month appointments do not accrue annual leave. Leave years, where applicable, are maintained at the department/college level.

All inquiries should be directed to your department head. Administrative leave applies when an employee is entitled to benefits for unscheduled work time due to delays or campus closures, as well as other situations defined in the policy.
OSU offers employees a variety of vacation benefits designed to meet personal and professional needs. Benefit availability is based on classification. The Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology is on a semester system consisting of three full terms each year and one summer term.
Holiday Schedule
University Human Resources has developed this information for the convenience of OSU employees. This is a brief interpretation of more detailed and complex materials. If further clarification is required, the actual law, policy and contract should be consulted as the source authority.
It is OSU’s policy to provide employees with the freedom to vote in state, national and local elections and to establish a procedure for requesting and reporting time off. A policy governing online voting can be found under “Policies and Procedures”.

University holidays apply in the semester. If scheduled lessons are not met, additional time or assignments can make a difference. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 is a federal law designed to provide employees with up to 12 weeks of protected unpaid leave for qualified family and medical reasons.

Leave Benefits
OSU employees receive 13 paid holidays per year in accordance with Policy 3-0709. The holiday calendar applies to OSU Stillwater, OSU Oklahoma City, OSU Tulsa, OSUIT, College of Veterinary Medicine, Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and cooperative extension offices and research stations.
The add, drop, drop, and refund dates listed below are for courses that run throughout the term. Prorated dates apply to block and short courses. For more information, see the “Short Courses with Single Drop/Add Dates” page on the registrar’s website at registrar.okstate.edu.

Monday, April 3 Deadline to apply for graduation (for name to appear on Spring Commencement Program) Leave without pay for personal reasons may be recommended by the department when deemed convenient for the university and the employee.
OSU staff and faculty working 0.50 FTE or more are entitled to certain paid leaves. Temporary workers and students are not eligible. OSU offers accrued annual vacation and accrued sick days. Your leave balances are available to view in your employee portal at my.okstate.edu under the self-service icon.
