Ptac Swimming Calendar – Healthy eating gives our swimmers and divers the best recovery during the summer, with daily exercise, multiple meets during the week, and managing the summer heat that every swimmer/diver needs to replenish expended energy. Remember that while swimming/diving, drink plenty of fluids (especially water) and eat small amounts of carbohydrate-rich foods, low-fat snacks (fresh fruit, whole-wheat crackers, pretzels, bagels, rice cakes, fruit, smoothies and fat-free yogurt) are the key to replenishing the body’s fuel supply.

You’ll want to avoid anything high in fat, fiber, or protein because these nutrients slow down digestion (cookies, candy, and chips). Swimmers must remain on their backs until they touch the wall for a turn or submission.

Kroger Community Rewards is a program that supports local non-profit organizations. When you purchase and use your Kroger Plus card or enter your associated phone number at checkout, they will donate a small percentage of what you spend to a local non-profit organization of your choice.

The nonprofit will receive a quarterly benefit check for the pooled contributions of everyone who selected that organization. All participants must re-register each year to continue earning rewards for their chosen organization. For the Plain Township Swim and Dive Team, money raised through this program helps with the direct costs of running our swim team.

The Plain Township Aquatic Center is located in a park-like setting with ample parking, a main check-in building, separate restrooms with lockers and showers, concession, vending machines and picnic area. Deckchairs, tables and umbrellas accompany a lot of green lawn for sunbathing.

“Free” means any stroke imaginable, but most swimmers choose the front crawl, the fastest stroke. Any part of the body can touch the wall during turns and submissions. This is the first style emphasized and virtually all new swimmers will compete in freestyle events.

According to league rules, swimmers must swim 3 regular season GCSL competitions to swim in the championship competition. If a competition was canceled due to weather and a swimmer was registered for that competition, the canceled competition will count as one of your completed competitions.

Stroke – Swim coaches will email the swimmer’s event prior to each meet. With the exception of the lane assignment, the rest of the information can be filled in before you arrive at the pool. Permanent Sharpie markers work best for this task.

Regular heating blades are relatively straightforward, as there are rarely multiple heats. Each sheet contains
the following information: race number, race title, heat number, heat status, lane number, swimmer’s name, swimmer’s age for the season, swimmer’s team and swimmer’s start time.

At the start of the season, each swimmer is assigned an NT, which stands for “No Time”. After they swim their first competition and earn an official (not disqualified) time, a time will appear in the last column.

The starting time is based on the best time for the event, not necessarily the previous meeting time. Preliminary times listed are based on the regular season. The final heat sheet (distributed before the finals) contains the swimmer’s preliminary times.

All relay times are from the regular season as relays count as final swims. For each event, the championship heat sheets also include the competition record time, the year achieved and the name of the swimmer holding the record.

Meetings start at 6:00 pm and usually end between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Swimmers must be in the pool by 4:30 am to prepare for warm-up unless otherwise instructed by coaches. The PTAC pool is closed on Wednesdays at 4 pm.

on home swim meet days. The maximum number of events a swimmer may participate in during a doubles event is five (5); three (3) individual and two (2) relays. Swimming Masters can be an all-day event if the swimmer qualifies for the finals or swims individual events and is part of a relay team.

On both days, preliminary swimming competitions are held in the morning, with finals and relays in the evening. Events are broken down as follows, unless the host pool decides to follow the two-day format below: COSA meetings are held on Saturday mornings.

Matches begin at 8am and end before the host pool opens to the public. COSA competitions do not have a maximum number of events a swimmer can swim. COSA’s head coach determines what is best for each swimmer.

There is no diving at the COSA meeting. Leg kicks should be a downward thrust, which is a simultaneous action. The stroke must be simultaneous and the arms must only recover forward over the water. Both hands must touch the wall at the same time on all laps and at the finish.

World Championship matches differ in that there are usually multiple heats for each event. In addition to the information provided on the regular season heat sheets, each heat is designated by its number out of a total number of heats (i.e. heat 1 of 4).

The type of swimming, preliminary or final, is also noted. In championship swimming, it is very important to know which heat your swimmers are entering so that they are placed correctly in the bullpen. Today, with your help, the Boy Scouts of America will continue to motivate young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives.

Your donation will ensure that over 20,000 young people have the opportunity to experience all that Scouting has to offer. If your swimmer makes it to the championships, parents should volunteer at competition sessions. PTAC will be assigned an area of responsibility for the meeting and a request for volunteers will be sent to parents of championship participants.

Volunteer work for this meeting is in addition to regular seasonal volunteer work. When PTAC hosts championships, additional volunteer parents will be needed. In Scouting, boys and girls start with the best now and become the best in the future.
