Smithtown Recycle Calendar – Smithtown went double-stream in 2014 when it ended its recycling contract with Brookhaven and has been without a recycling service provider since Oct. 29 when Green Stream Recycling, Brookhaven’s recycling contractor, voided its contract with the city.
Smithtown, among many other local communities, has an agreement to sell all of their recycling through Green Stream for an annual profit of $180,000. Most people know that old electronics should not be thrown away with the kitchen waste, but recycling them responsibly can be time-consuming and difficult.
