Skylight Frame Calendar – When the images are displayed in the calendar, they look good, but there is no image control. It shows each image for 10 seconds, changing rapidly every time. Another Skylight product, Skylight Frame, is an online photo frame that borders on simplicity.

Despite the similarities between these products, it seems the company is making a major difference in software and is promoting the $39/year Photo Plus subscription plan. Skylight Calendar lets everyone in your family sync their events in one place.

It automatically shows your family events, activities, and grocery lists so your kids, wife, and girlfriend don’t miss a thing! Skylight Calendar has a photo slideshow screen saver that shows your photos when you’re not touching the calendar screen.

The Display Is Easy To See

Just email the photos to your calendar and they’ll appear on your screensaver! With the code in hand, I was able to unlock the frame and create a unique email address ([email protected]) that will be used to send photos to the frame.

After saving all this, I attached some photos to the email and hit send. Images take only 45 seconds to enter the frame and immediately start scrolling through the slideshow. One thing I really like about the Skylight is that the screen isn’t small, so the display is large enough to avoid clutter.

With the back light enough light to see the screen, you can adjust the display to show the day, the week or the month, whichever is best for you and your family. We have found that the weekly presentation is the most effective because the children can not only see what is happening that day, but also prepare for the future.

While the simplicity of the Skylight frame is great for many people who really want this type of frame, others are still frustrated by the lack of customization and control. There is no other way to add photos to the frame but email, because the USB-A port and the SD card slot on the back are useless.

What You’ll Hate About The Skylight Frame

There’s also no motion sensor, so you’ll have to remember to turn off the frame every night so it’s not on 24/7. Email List Options Technical Smart Newsletter While setting up, I spent a lot of time admiring the construction of the frame, and from the front, it looks like a solid device.

The black around the edges accentuates the white interior, and the wide screen looks great if you look straight at it. It has a touch screen and is easy to use, even when it is mounted on the wall by the mounting hole on the back, even when the power cord is included.

There are physical controls on the back, but the arrows and power button seem to do something. International: The power adapter is not included. Skylight Calendar comes with a US style plugin by default. This may be more difficult. It took about 15 minutes to set up for 6 calendars (and a slight delay when I realized I had to switch iCal to general mode).

If you need a calendar frame in the first place, the choice is limited. Google’s Nest Hub is one option, but it’s much better than a calendar. You can reset the connected iPad with the display in the calendar app and set it to “do not sleep,” but it doesn’t look stylish.

But other than that, the Skylight Calendar has made it easy for my family to quickly see what everything is on their agenda for the day. In fact, I think it’s really easy—it’s just a way to display our digital calendar in real-time for the whole family to see.

No More Whats For Dinner? Questions

We still use it week after week, and it’s worth every penny for large, busy families like mine. The touch screen calendar is great. It works well for its purpose in terms of limited typing, but other than that it’s cheap compared to a new phone or tablet.

The company did not reveal technical details about the resolution and type of screen. It is very bright and can be used in any lighting conditions. You can control the brightness if you don’t like the automatic setting.

If you like framing photos, the Skylight calendar may not be for you. It displays images, but is not intended for that use. This product wants to be in your kitchen or any place in your home that brings your family together.

The shiny exterior is attractive, but it’s a product of performance and utility. Your kids ask “what’s for lunch?” every day? Then you’ll love the meal plan feature in the Skylight app. Unfortunately, you can’t add a meal plan on the device itself—it only works for store listings and calendar events—but the app does have a separate meal plan option that you can fill out from

Its Not Cordless

your phone will be covered in Skylight. calendar I only add our potato dinner once to the calendar each week, so my kids just have to watch Skylight to see what’s for dinner. They always complain about what I do for dinner, but the Skylight Calendar is a technical device, not a miracle worker.

My biggest problem with the Skylight calendar is that there is no way to charge or use the electronics, so you have to leave it plugged in all the
time. While this isn’t an appliance you should carry around the house — ours stays in one spot on the kitchen counter — it’s nice to have it handy when the power goes out or is unplugged.

to pay for one of my family’s 600 appliances. However, the cable is nice and long, which is great if the outputs are small. Finally, while the framework appears to be able to handle almost any image file type, video is not yet supported, although the framework has information.

Skylight says you’ll be able to play videos later, but there’s no word yet on when that will be. The Desktop Framework is perfect for those who like to switch, set and forget. It’s almost completely lacking in customization, doesn’t have many of the same features as similarly priced options, and isn’t built to the same standard as other $160 tablets.

Skylight Frame Bottom Line

My family always has questions, questions like, “What are you doing this evening?” or “What are we doing on the weekend?” or my favorite, “What’s for dinner?” All of this despite the fact that all of our activities are fully integrated into my iCal app in the personal calendars that I share with each of them.

However, they never look at them. You can purchase the Skylight Calendar from the Skylight Frame website. Currently offering a $10 discount if you also subscribe to their Photo Plus plan, you can also use the calendar as a regular digital frame.

Despite the addition. The Skylight calendar has many event views. Some layouts are fine, but each family will likely find something that works for their schedule and may not vary. Here’s how I started using it at home.

There is no minute-by-minute list, so the daily view is not really used. The weekly and monthly views were very helpful here. After the initial setup process, which took about 20 minutes, the Skylight Calendar was surprisingly easy (unlike my kids).

Its So Easy To Use

Since everything is synced to my calendar, when I add or edit an event in my iCal, Skylight automatically updates. You can choose which calendars you want to show on your Skylight (for example, I chose not to sync with my work calendar) and you can (or your personal

children) choose what color they want for each calendar section. I’m a type-A person who thrives on organization, and the Skylight calendar fulfills that need for me in a simple and affordable way. I don’t want to pull out a big whiteboard calendar and waste a lot of time writing down all the events, meetings and repairs at home, but I can easily see what’s going on by looking at Skylight.

The setup is … very easy. The device itself works on a “plug and play” basis. Then you simply share a link to your calendar—it can be iCal, Google, Cozi, Outlook, or others—to a specific email address and Skylight prompts you to schedule.

One of the most confusing features of the Skylight calendar is that it looks like a digital photo frame, but it’s not. You can display photos on it, but the calendar will sleep. By default, the display does not go into sleep mode.

The Grocery List Is A Godsend

In the settings, you can activate the sleep mode and set it to turn on after 1-10 minutes. When it sleeps, the screen will start showing the photos you selected from your library. From the front, it looks like a quality product and if you have a good viewing angle, the display will show a good image.

It can be hung on a wall and has 8GB of internal storage, and I like the idea that one can send photos via email. A money back guarantee means you can test it for yourself and it works very well for some people.

However, there are more and better options if you want more control over what you see, and a more advanced way (like a custom app) to manage photos. My verdict: Not for everyone. In particular, if you have privacy or security concerns when it comes to a calendar app, you may want to give Skylight a shot, as your calendar should be public—at least

However, if you don’t align it properly with the X-axis, the image will change to a negative color. For example, if you hang the frame on the wall above or below eye level, it will be difficult to see.

For the image display, all images are displayed with black frames on both sides, but landscape images are cropped at the top and bottom. I’m not sure what the 1024 x 600 resolution is here, but it’s not what my camera will handle.

Checking Our Work

Digital tape has had a bad rap for a few years, no doubt due to the advent of smaller boards, complicated handling equipment, and lackluster design. However, they are making a comeback as companies like Nixplay and Pixal get involved.

If you want to use the dual function of the Skylight calendar and use it as a photo frame, it’s very easy. You simply add photos through the app on your phone, and then Skylight uses them as screensavers on your calendar.

The Skylight Frame I’m here to review promises easy setup and a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee—you’re off to a great start. At first glance, it looks great, and at around $159, it should be comparable to other main platforms on the market, such as the Nix Lux or the Nixplay Seed, both of which have been reviewed by
