The Display Is Easy To See
Just email the photos to your calendar and they’ll appear on your screensaver! With the code in hand, I was able to unlock the frame and create a unique email address ([email protected]) that will be used to send photos to the frame.
After saving all this, I attached some photos to the email and hit send. Images take only 45 seconds to enter the frame and immediately start scrolling through the slideshow. One thing I really like about the Skylight is that the screen isn’t small, so the display is large enough to avoid clutter.
With the back light enough light to see the screen, you can adjust the display to show the day, the week or the month, whichever is best for you and your family. We have found that the weekly presentation is the most effective because the children can not only see what is happening that day, but also prepare for the future.
While the simplicity of the Skylight frame is great for many people who really want this type of frame, others are still frustrated by the lack of customization and control. If you need a calendar frame in the first place, the choice is limited. Google’s Nest Hub is one option, but it’s much better than a calendar. You can reset the connected iPad with the display in the calendar app and set it to “do not sleep,” but it doesn’t look stylish.
But other than that, the Skylight Calendar has made it easy for my family to quickly see what everything is on their agenda for the day. In fact, I think it’s really easy—it’s just a way to display our digital calendar in real-time for the whole family to see.
No More Whats For Dinner? Questions
We still use it week after week, and it’s worth every penny for large, busy families like mine. The touch screen calendar is great. It works well for its purpose in terms of limited typing, but other than that it’s cheap compared to a new phone or tablet.
The company did not reveal technical details about the resolution and type of screen. It is very bright and can be used in any lighting conditions. You can control the brightness if you don’t like the automatic setting.
If you like framing photos, the Skylight calendar may not be for you. It displays images, but is not intended for that use. This product wants to be in your kitchen or any place in your home that brings your family together.

Skylight Frame Bottom Line
My family always has questions, questions like, “What are you doing this evening?” or “What are we doing on the weekend?” or my favorite, “What’s for dinner?” All of this despite the fact that all of our activities are fully integrated into my iCal app in the personal calendars that I share with each of them.

There is no minute-by-minute list, so the daily view is not really used. The weekly and monthly views were very helpful here. After the initial setup process, which took about 20 minutes, the Skylight Calendar was surprisingly easy (unlike my kids).

Since everything is synced to my calendar, when I add or edit an event in my iCal, Skylight automatically updates. You can choose which calendars you want to show on your Skylight (for example, I chose not to sync with my work calendar) and you can (or your personal
children) choose what color they want for each calendar section. I’m a type-A person who thrives on organization, and the Skylight calendar fulfills that need for me in a simple and affordable way. I don’t want to pull out a big whiteboard calendar and waste a lot of time writing down all the events, meetings and repairs at home, but I can easily see what’s going on by looking at Skylight.
The setup is … very easy. The device itself works on a “plug and play” basis. Then you simply share a link to your calendar—it can be iCal, Google, Cozi, Outlook, or others—to a specific email address and Skylight prompts you to schedule.
One of the most confusing features of the Skylight calendar is that it looks like a digital photo frame, but it’s not. You can display photos on it, but the calendar will sleep. By default, the display does not go into sleep mode.
The Grocery List Is A Godsend
In the settings, you can activate the sleep mode and set it to turn on after 1-10 minutes. When it sleeps, the screen will start showing the photos you selected from your library. From the front, it looks like a quality product and if you have a good viewing angle, the display will show a good image.
It can be hung on a wall and has 8GB of internal storage, and I like the idea that one can send photos via email. A money back guarantee means you can test it for yourself and it works very well for some people.
However, there are more and better options if you want more control over what you see, and a more advanced way (like a custom app) to manage photos. My verdict: Not for everyone. In particular, if you have privacy or security concerns when it comes to a calendar app, you may want to give Skylight a shot, as your calendar should be public—at least
