Desoto Schools Calendar – When it comes to being a teacher in Desoto Parish, there are many reasons why I teach here. DeSoto Parish is what I call “Home” and I encourage anyone and everyone to become a part of what I consider, the greatest Parish in the state of Louisiana.

I am an MHS graduate. I had many wonderful teachers who encouraged me to become a teacher, and I followed their example and started my teaching career here at home. Now, 30 years later and I’m still writing.

Now I teach the children of the children that I taught before. This warms my heart! I have spent my life in the DeSoto Parish school system! I started as a student at LHS, then graduated from Stanley.

After college, I started teaching at Pelican, then spent 20 years in North Desoto. Now I’m back at Stanley teaching my favorite subject, math! DeSoto is definitely in my blood! I had the honor of attending and graduating from the DeSoto Parish School System (MHS class of 1990).

I am grateful for the opportunities DeSoto Parish has given me over the past 25 years as a teacher and educator. DeSoto Parish has allowed me to grow as a person and I am honored to call DeSoto home.

I teach at DeSoto because 1) the pay is great and 2) there are ongoing opportunities to develop and improve my teaching practice with experienced mentors. I have always felt like we (students, teachers and administrators) are in this together, no matter how wet it may be.

I am a product of the DeSoto school system graduating from LHS in 1998. I have been teaching at LHS for 20 years. Being educated at DeSoto has allowed me to grow a lot as an educator and in return I have been given the opportunity to have

a big one impact on students’ lives.
