Uic Calendar Holidays – While eligible faculty and staff will receive paid time off over the Juneteenth holiday, the University of Illinois system is never fully closed and essential operations will continue. Holiday usage and pay policies will apply, as they do for other designated holidays.
A gift day is a paid day (not requiring the use of benefit time) provided to allow benefit-eligible employees. Essential employees who must work on a designated gift day may, with supervisor approval, use their gift day later in the current fiscal year.

Juneteenth is now designated as a holiday at both the federal and state levels. As previously mentioned, please note that December 29, 30 and 31 are designated as Gift Days by President Killeen and the Chancellor of the University.
