If your employment ends during the week, ends the day before a bank holiday and you have worked for your employer for the last 4 weeks, you must receive an additional daily bank holiday pay. This also applies to part-time employees who have worked at least 40 hours in the last 5 weeks.
But it will not be part of the bank holiday calendar from 2023. Instead, a new permanent bank holiday will be granted to celebrate St Brigid’s Day and will be held annually on the first Monday in February.

If you are sick during a public holiday, you are entitled to compensation for the holiday you missed. Your employer can also choose to treat you as not being on bank holiday sick leave and pay you as usual for the bank holiday.
