The word epiphany is not specific to Christianity, as the alias of Zeus, Epiphanes, can attest. It comes from the Greek epiphaneia, which means “manifestation”. The proclamation of the date of Easter and other movable feasts on the Epiphany dates from a time when calendars were not readily available.
It was necessary to make known the date of Easter in advance, since many celebrations of the liturgical year depend on its date. The number of Sundays following Epiphany, the date of Ash Wednesday, and the number of Sundays following Pentecost are all calculated in relation to Easter.

There is a tradition where the youngest of the family will go under the table and assign each slice to someone randomly. This is one of the most crucial Christian holidays. It shows how God comes to his people and reveals his salvation to the world.
The word Epiphany comes from the Greek word “Epiphaneia” which means “Manifestation” or “Appearance”. This day falls on January 6 of every year or on the Sunday that falls between January 2 and 8 in some countries.
