Of utmost importance to CSCU and Housatonic Community College is the health, safety and well-being of each member of their community. However, despite the campus’ efforts to comply with health and safety guidelines, it is not possible to guarantee a disease-free environment, or to ensure that the campus will not close and return to an online-only learning environment.
Coronavirus Covid- Pandemic Disclaimer
This is the reality of working and learning during a pandemic. If you choose to return to campus during the pandemic, you agree that you are willing to do your part to keep campus safe and acknowledge that you may need to complete your coursework in an evolving or distance learning environment.
Housatonic Community College’s online catalog is the official source for academic programs and courses. Prospective students are encouraged to use the catalog in planning their path to graduation. The catalog contains several features, including advanced search options and intuitive navigation.

All students (part-time and full-time) must apply for financial aid immediately after applying for admission to HCC. By submitting a financial aid application, you can qualify for a combination of more than 10 types of grants, loans, institutional scholarships, and work-study funds that can help pay for college.
Filling out a financial aid application is the first step in learning about your options for paying for college. Although HCC has multiple start dates and accepts financial aid applications throughout the year, submitting your application early will give you a better chance of securing aid.
Within each award you will find a printable class planner by clicking the paper icon (first icon) as shown to track your educational progress through completion and your Interactive Academic Advisement Reports (iAARs). This will be valuable for you to refer to when working with an advisor at Houston Community College.
HCC has multiple start dates and accepts financial aid applications throughout the year, filing the FAFSA early will give you a better chance of securing any grant, loan, work study and emergency aid funding you may receive.
Many part-time and full-time students who complete the application process receive some form of federal, state, or institutional financial aid, so you will need to fill out the FAFSA. Failure to complete the FAFSA may mean you are ineligible for federal, state, or institutional aid.
Filing TASFA early will give qualifying part-time and full-time students a better chance of securing state grants, work-study or institutional assistance they may receive. Failure to complete TASFA may mean you cannot claim state or institutional aid.

Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) must adapt to this reality. Moving forward, it’s up to all of us—faculty, staff, and students—to do our part to ensure that our campus community remains as healthy and safe as possible.
This is a shared responsibility, and each member of our community must comply with the national, state, and local health guidelines and requirements, and adhere to the measures that Housatonic Community College deems safe and appropriate for the campus.
This will include social distancing, wearing a mask or other face covering, not reporting to class or work when sick, and isolating if necessary. Although Housatonic Community College easily develops a course schedule that includes multiple classes and home instruction, no one knows what the future holds.
In the event of an outbreak of the coronavirus or other diseases, the institution reserves the right to adapt the format of each class to the online / distance learning modality if the public health situation warrants it.
Such changes will not result in an increase or decrease in tuition and fees. We all understand that tuition and fees serve as an exchange for learning, academic credit, and certain non-academic services, regardless of whether the learning is on-site, in a hybrid environment or remotely.
HCC offers several spring sessions, as well as a winter mini-session that takes place right after the end of the fall semester. The spring course schedule has in-person and online courses with start dates from December 2022 – April 2023. Please see the Spring session below and click here to see the start date of the next available course.

Virtual and in-person assistance is available to help you apply, register and cover fees. In early March 2020, Connecticut and the rest of the United States experienced the effects of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Daily life as it existed before the pandemic changed drastically, and individuals and institutions adapted to new practices and behaviors.
Current normative actions include wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing, and working and learning remotely. Learning about and adhering to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines has become a way of life. As we plan for the next school year, there are many uncertainties, including the threat of COVID-19.
Your 2022-23 Houston Community College (HCC) Catalog & Student Handbook will provide guidance and background to all HCC enrolled students, prospective students and alumni to quickly find and store details about our undergraduate courses and programs [credit-bearing courses only]
