A lawsuit has just been filed over the illegal redistricting of Tennessee Republicans. The Tennesseans affected by this map will be the plaintiffs, and thanks to you, we will bear the costs of the lawsuit. We plan to build on the success Democrats have had in Ohio and North Carolina by overturning the gerrymandered map.
For about two weeks in January 2022, the Tennessee General Assembly engaged in an unprecedented redistricting of voters, redrawing the state House and Senate maps to give the incumbent Republican supermajority the maximum possible partisan advantage.
Decisions about the redistricting were largely made from the public and without input from minority party leaders. This unilateral decision denied voters a real opportunity to participate in fundamental changes to the process by which Tennessee voters select their elected representatives.
