After this prayer, the altar and prayer space are removed and the Blessed Sacrament is transferred from the altar to the chapel. Lent officially ends on Saturday, April 8, 2023, the day before Easter. The week before Easter Sunday is called Holy Week or Passion Week.
Preparing For Holy Week And Easter
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem. Lent is a forty-day liturgical period of special prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Maundy Thursday. It is a time of preparation for the celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection at Easter.
When we pray, we go on a journey that draws us closer to Christ and changes us through our encounter with Him. Violet is the color of Lent. On Latterday Sunday, priests wear rose (rose) as a short break from official purple and as a reminder that Easter is approaching.
On Palm Sunday and Good Friday, priests wear red. The color of Easter is white. During each day of Holy Week, we remember the events of the last week of Jesus’ ministry on earth. On Maundy Thursday, we remember the Last Supper and prayer where Jesus washed the disciples’ feet in the Garden of Gethsemane.
On Good Friday, we reflect on Jesus’ crucifixion and sacrifice as payment for our sins. On Easter Sunday we celebrate the glorious resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ from the grave. The Sunday Lectionary is a three-year circular lecture.

Lent is a time of repentance. It is not a feeling of shame, but a realization that sin separates us from God and what it costs Him to be reunited with us. (See: What is the Meaning and Purpose of Lent? by Candace Lucy) As you color in the Sundays as part of the countdown to Easter Sunday, note that they are not part of the actual “40 Days.”
Sundays are a break from the “mourning and fasting” traditions of the Lenten season. Lent is the Christian annual season that begins on Ash Wednesday and lasts for 40 days (excluding Sundays), marking the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert.
When Does Lent End?
For Christians this 40-day period is a time for reflection, fasting and repentance in preparation for Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. After choosing a project, decide which coins you want to collect. You may want to donate a quarter to each item on the calendar.

History Of Lent
Every Sunday, pray as a family for the project and for the people who will benefit from your gifts. Our offer begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. During Lent, Sundays are devoted to worship and praise to God and reflection with weekly prayer.
Unlike Advent and Easter, Lent is more solemn. The sacrament of reconciliation – where we ask God for forgiveness – is becoming more popular. It is time for Christians and Catholics to learn how to confess and discover the power of God’s forgiveness.

Churches also start Lent on different days. Western churches begin Lent on the 7th Wednesday before Easter Day (called Ash Wednesday). Eastern churches begin Lent on the Monday of the 7th week before Easter and end on the Friday 9 days before Easter.
Eastern churches call this period “Great Lent”. Now make a container to collect the

“Halo is an excellent resource for people seeking a deeper spiritual life, especially for today’s younger generation of Catholics. It helps clarify that a relationship with God is very personal and can be a great source of peace, joy and strength.” Early Christians knew the importance of Easter and needed proper preparation.
What Are The Days Of Lent ?
The first observation of a 40-day fasting period in preparation for Easter appears in the Nicene Canons (325 AD). The practice is thought to have evolved from the early church tradition of Baptists observing a 40-day fast for baptism at Easter.
Eventually, the season of Lent developed into a time of spiritual commitment for the entire church. In the early centuries, the fasting of Lent was very strict, but over time it relaxed. If you decide to do this as a family or as a church, first decide where you want your money to go.

Give everyone a voice, regardless of their age. You may have a community food bank that can use the funds to buy food for the hungry. Perhaps you can contribute to a larger project beyond your local community.
The appropriate functional color for the day is indicated by the color of the number against a light gray background when green, red or purple. When the functional color is white, the number is black on a white background.
Why Do Christians Observe Lent?
Lent for Christians begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sunset on Maundy Thursday or Holy Saturday (the day before Easter Sunday). However, the practices of Lent do not end until sundown on Holy Saturday for all Christian denominations.
So it is 44 days from Ash Wednesday to Maundy Thursday plus two more days including Good Friday and Holy Saturday giving a total of 46 days for Lent. But with Sundays excluded from fasting during Lent, and 6 Sundays removed from the crowd, we get 40 days of fasting as a liturgical period.
A frequent tradition during Lent on Fridays is the Stations of the Cross, which allow us to pray with the last hours of Jesus. Weddings with this wonderful mystery and lavish celebrations are less common these days.
Although many Catholics are familiar with the “meatless Fridays” during Lent, fasting and abstinence are important parts of Lent. It might look like giving up on gossip, your favorite coffee order, or ditching the music in the car and replacing it with prayer.
What Is The Meaning Of Lent?
The 40 days of Lent in 2023 will run from February 22, 2023 to April 8, 2023, not counting Sundays during this period of the church year. Sundays are not counted because they are not considered days of sorrow and repentance.
After all this, the congregation is invited to receive the ashes on their foreheads. Usually, when the priest or pastor dips his finger in the ashes, he spreads them with a cross on the forehead and says: “From dust you came and from dust you will return.”
