Flag Day 2023 – In 1776, the Declaration of Independence was drafted by Thomas Jefferson and his fellow members of a congressional committee. Then, on June 14, 1777, the Flag Act was enacted by the Second Continental Congress. This day began to be celebrated as Flag Day in the United States. Other flag acts that followed in the next few years (1794, 1818) brought changes in flag design.

There are other ways to allow your American flag to symbolize mourning, even if you can’t fly it at half-staff in the traditional way.
