Coptic Feasts 2023 – The Coptic calendar is based on the ancient Egyptian calendar and is used by the Coptic Orthodox Church for liturgical readings and for determining and commemorating the dates of fasts and holidays. The calendar has 13 months, 12 months of 30 days and a month of 5-6 days, depending on whether the year is a leap year or not.
The Coptic year begins on the 11th of September in the Gregorian calendar or the 12th of the previous (Gregorian) leap year. The LEAP Coptic year follows the same rules as the Gregorian year, so the special month always has 6 days in the year before the LEAP Gregorian year.
