Skip to contentMcps Calendar 2021 – I want to give you an update on the school calendar for the rest of the school year. Recent weather forced Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) to close school for a total of four days during January (January 3, 4, 7 and 20).
The 2021–2022 MCPS school calendar was revised to change the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to a system holiday in November 2021. That left MCPS with 181 planned days of instruction in January, one more than the minimum required in the state of Maryland.

Therefore, one of our four Bandhas should not be made, except for three days of instruction in our calendar. On February 1, 2021, the Board of Education approved the Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Plan to provide MCPS with the option to transition to synchronous virtual learning for any future closures due to inclement weather.
High School Schedules
Traditional snow days remain valuable and sometimes necessary. In the unfortunate event we experience inclement weather that requires additional closures beyond this schedule, MCPS may request an exemption from the state of at least 180 school days.

We also tried to include non-student holiday dates. These include teacher services days, parent-teacher interviews, teacher preparation days, as well as professional development days. Schedules for MCPS athletics teams are generally available in early August of each school year.
Schedules, results and standings are available via the County Sports Zone. Schedules can be searched and sorted by school, sport or day. Schedules must be posted by August 1 for the current school year in the County Sports Zone.

Innovative School for Students, which has a 210-day academic calendar, will be in place with all schools by April 1, 2022, and will end the school year on Monday, June 13, 2022, as scheduled.
