All are traveling through life’s greatest mystery – the meaning of life, yet “wildly funny”. SUNY New Paltz 1 Hawk Drive New Paltz, NY 12561 845-257-SUNY (7869) 877-MY-NP-411 (Toll Free) Some policies remain the same from previous semesters at New Paltz, including the requirement that all SUNY students be vaccinated against COVID
-19 against (or have an approved exception). As in previous semesters, all students, faculty and staff must take the test at the beginning of the semester. Unvaccinated students on campus (a small percentage with approved exemptions) must be routinely tested for COVID-19 during the fall 2022 semester.
If the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community is high, weekly testing is necessary. The costs related to the exam are borne by the student. More information on how often to test unvaccinated students will be shared soon.

According to the CDC and New York State, anyone (regardless of vaccination status) who tests positive for COVID-19 should self-isolate for five days from symptoms or a positive test. They must then wear a mask in all public places for 6 to 10 days after symptoms or a positive test.
on the sun. This policy has not changed since Spring 2022. If you can work from home during isolation, you should. If you are unable to work from home or are too ill to work, HRDI will work with you and your supervisor to determine the appropriate use of free time and/or sick leave.
If you have been infected with COVID-19 in the past 90 days, do not take the PCR test. You still need to meet the testing requirements and do the antigen test. If the antigen test is positive AND you have had COVID-19 in the past 30 days, contact Student Health Services (students) or Human Resources (employees) for more information.
Students who test positive for COVID-19 should notify Student Health Services at (845) 257-3400 or [email protected] as soon as possible. Individual case management is conducted, focusing on positive cases, student roommates, roommates, roommates, and intimate partners.
Other policies are new this fall. Enzo Labs on-campus testing will end at the end of August as we transition to more frequent home antigen testing. And while SUNY’s student vaccination policy remains in effect, most students no longer need to be up-to-date on booster shots (although booster shots are strongly recommended for all eligible individuals, and up-to-date students are exempt from quarantine if exposed to the virus).

The College accepts antigen or PCR test results. Antigen tests are widely available at many pharmacies and online retailers and will be available on campus this fall (see On-Campus Testing below). This Ulster County page has information on where to get a PCR test (and many other county websites have similar resources).
Students may request a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. Students who participate in a fully online course schedule and are not on campus are also exempt. More information on exemptions can be found here.
SUNY’s guide, which can be viewed in its entirety here , outlines the principles that will apply to all 64 campuses this fall and also indicates where individual campuses can flexibly develop approaches to meet the needs of their communities.
Quarantine is no longer required for exposed students, faculty and staff at SUNY New Paltz. Isolation protocol remains in place and anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 should continue to follow the guidelines above. -411 (free) If you have symptoms but the antigen test is negative, a second antigen test or PCR test 24 hours later is recommended. Students who test negative for antigen but are symptomatic and/or exposed should contact the Health Center for further testing.
Members of our community who test positive for COVID-19 must notify the College. Student Health Services works directly with students who test positive to provide guidance and identify potential exposures. HRDI works with employees (see below).

Antigen tests are available on campus for students, faculty, and staff. Students can purchase antigen tests for $1 from the Snack Shack vending machine outside the Student Union. Faculty and staff (with university ID) can pick up a two-pack in the mail room in the basement of the Haggerty Administration Building.
The college is increasing its use of antigen testing after local health authorities use this best approach in the current phase of managing the outbreak. Antigen tests are valuable tools for rapidly identifying individuals at risk of transmitting COVID-19 to others.
Another advantage is that they are widely available, relatively affordable and self-administered. More information about antigen testing can be found at the CDC. SUNY’s fall 2022 regulations require students to receive only the primary vaccination against COVID-19.
The College strongly recommends that all eligible students receive a reminder to maximize virus protection, but most students no longer need a reminder. Bat Boy is an American comedy/horror rock musical based on a 1992 Weekly World News story about a half-boy, half-bat named “Bat Boy” who grew up in a cave.
Bat Boy discovered and brought the musical to a small town in West Virginia. Bat Boy finds a new life as he tries to fit in—even find love—but soon Bat Boy runs into obstacles set up by the narrow-minded townspeople.
Unvaccinated employees are currently required to be tested weekly under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between SUNY and the bargaining units. These MoUs expire on August 31. If there are any changes to the supervisory testing of employees after August 31, we will notify the university.
If you test positive for COVID-19, you must inform your close contacts. This is in line with broader trends and best practices during the current pandemic. It is also the right thing to do. If you become infected with COVID-19, tell your loved ones that they may have been exposed.
