Usahs Academic Calendar – Dr. Yuan currently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Clinical and Administrative Department of the American University of Health Sciences School of Pharmacy. Dr. Yuan comes to AUHS with extensive pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical consulting experience in psychiatric hospitals and retail pharmacies, specializing in clinical adolescent and adult psychiatry and psychopharmacology.

BioDr. Coffman has taught Medical Microbiology, Immunology, and Genetics for the past several decades and has supported his students with research, poster presentations, and publications. Dr. Coffman has developed several biomedical science programs along with courses in health care administration, and he has also worked with several institutions on accreditation, program evaluation, student recruitment and marketing strategies.

Yuan worked as a Pharmacy Director and clinical pharmacist in an inpatient psychiatric hospital for over 11 years. Before working as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting, he also had many years of experience working in retail pharmacies as a pharmacist and pharmacy manager.

Dr. Yuan has taught pharmacy technician students, Pharm.D. students, and Pharmacy residents from several pharmacy schools for more than 13 years. The focus of my previous work was on the biocomplexity and how our immune system communicates with our microbiome, and how this interaction affects female reproductive disorders such as endometriosis and premature birth.

So, as a next step in my career, I would like to continue to focus on using molecular biology techniques to gain a mechanistic understanding of the interaction between the immune system and mucosal microbial dynamics.

Biography: Experienced Clinical Manager with over 25 years in practice with pharmacy management, acute care practice and oncology care management. Prior to joining AUHS, Dr. Brady led the clinical and productivity program at a large community district hospital in Monterey County managing all clinical program development, education, training and implementation, chairing the Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Glycemic, Antimicrobial Surveillance and Drug Safety Committees.

He directs and oversees all aspects of treatment policy and the development of best practice protocols, regulations and standards within the Oncology Infusion Center and hospital operations including 340B program standards. Bio Dr. Hussain received his Ph.D.

in Pharmacy from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Amarillo, TX, and a B.S. in Pharmacy from Kakatiya University in India. Before joining AUHS, Dr. Hussain works as an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Louisiana and Oklahoma.

He has taught pharmacy professionals and graduate students various courses including but not limited to Pharmacy, Compounding Pharmacy, Pharmacokinetics, Physical Pharmacy, Advanced Drug Delivery and Targeting, Pharmaceutical Technology, Medical Microbiology and Biotechnology. He has also guided several M.S.

and Ph.D. student throughout his career. Biography: Dr. Han brings over 10 years of community practice, pharmacy management and medication therapy management experience to the AUHS School of Pharmacy. Before joining AUHS, Dr. Han’s pharmacy practice works closely with pharmacies and independent physicians in developing medication management and regulatory compliance procedures.

He has managed many pharmacies and has taught many successful pharmacy apprentices and pharmacists to become pharmacy managers. Dr. Han has been actively involved in educating seniors about medication adherence, chronic disease and Medicare Part D prescription drug benefits. He has also provided medication management in senior facilities.

Dr. Han currently serves as a member of the Korean American Pharmacy Association of California. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from California Northstate University College of Pharmacy in Sacramento, California.

He completed his PGY1 residency in Community Pharmacy Practice with the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. After residency, Dr. Deng completed an Ambulatory Care and Academic Fellowship with the Purdue University College of Pharmacy in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Before this appointment, Dr. Deng has served as a faculty member at the California Northstate University School of Pharmacy, and practiced at Wellspace Health as a Pharmacist and Teaching Outpatient Care. Her primary research interests include transitions of care, primary care in underserved medical areas, and teaching and learning.

Biography: Dr. Kumar joined as an Assistant Professor at AUHS in August 2019. Prior to AUHS, Dr. Kumar has gained extensive teaching experience at various institutions in New York. His research work/interests include drug design, organic synthesis and early biological evaluation of potential drug candidates.
