Due to inclement weather conditions that may result in unsafe driving conditions, all after-school activities scheduled for today, March 2, will be canceled or rescheduled.
Both calendars feature major breaks (Thanksgiving, winter, and spring), which are consistent with the traditional length and style of NISD. This includes a few extra days off for students the week after winter break and the week right after spring break to aid teacher preparation.

For students in 2022-2023, school will start on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 and will end on Friday, May 26, 2023. School for students in 2023-2024 will start and end on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Friday, May 23, 2024.

In the surveys conducted by the district, 77.8 percent of 387 parents responded in favor of 4 days a week and 66.9 percent in favor of Friday holiday. Of the employee surveys, 111.4 responded 91 percent for the 4-day week and 53.2 percent for Monday off.

“The government’s goal is to retain and hire the best teachers and staff we can for New Waverly ISD. Due to many limitations, this is a goal we cannot continue to achieve the success we want,” he said.
