Auwcl Academic Calendar – Subsidized loans are available for undergraduate students with financial need. The United States Department of Education pays the interest on subsidized loans while students are enrolled in undergraduate programs. The direct unsubsidized loan is available to undergraduate and graduate students and does not require demonstrated financial need.
Unsubsidized loans start accruing interest as soon as the money is paid off. Learn more about the difference between unsubsidized and subsidized loans. Students with significant outside funding, including veteran/military benefits and employer benefits, may qualify for a deposit waiver.

The AU Office of Student Accounts/AU Central is responsible for processing all refunds. If you have any financial aid left over after paying your fees, that amount will be returned to you. Its tuition is full-time: $58,970 and part-time: $41,191. The student to teacher ratio is 6.6:1. Eligible students can borrow up to $6,833 per term in an unsubsidized Direct Loan. If you need additional funding beyond that, you can apply for a Direct PLUS Graduate/Professional Student Loan.
Direct PLUS loans require a separate credit application to determine approval. Please see the table below for the award year. The maximum term award is the cost of attendance minus all other financial aid, such as loans, scholarships, tuition benefits, and/or veterans benefits.

AU Community members are advised to carry personal property insurance. To be eligible for financial aid, students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). For MLS students, a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 is required, completion of at least two-thirds of credit attempts, and completion of the program within the maximum time frame.
AUWCL’s Financial Aid Office will evaluate your SAP status each quarter after all grades are posted. The full SAP policy is available on our website. The deposit is a demonstration of the student’s commitment to their education and their ability to finance that education.
If a student receives a deposit waiver and does not attend within the allotted time when the deposit waiver is in effect, the student will not be eligible for a new waiver. Every student has the right to opt out throughout the entire MLS program.
