Cal Lutheran Academic Calendar – Conducted by Michael Hart, the Wind Ensemble presents a varied and eclectic program for wind, brass and percussion. Wind ensemble and string symphony will be added to complete the concert with music for full orchestra. The University believes that the primary responsibility for communicating scores to parents of dependents enrolled at Cal Lutheran rests with the student.
However, the University reserves the right to exceptionally send grade reports to parents of dependent students under the age of 21 if parents request the registrar to send grades for a particular semester. A maximum of 20 semester credits through online transfer, correspondence, and/or extension may count toward the degree.

Letter writing and extension work may not be included in the major. See the next section on credit limits for more information. A simple assumption in the administration of assessment at California Lutheran University is that only the instructor is qualified to assess and grade student work in their courses.
Grade Challenges And Changes
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CUM GPA) is calculated by dividing the total number of grades earned by the total number of attempts based on CLU and coursework taken. The Cal Lutheran Grade Point Average (Cal Lutheran GPA) is calculated by dividing the total grades earned in Cal Lutheran coursework by the total number of attempts.
Multiple Assignments: Submission of work done in previous class with confirmation that it is new and original. Although previous work may serve as a basis for later work, the previous work must be known to and approved by the teacher.
Students have the right to completely hide their directory information. This means that the University will not release any information from educational records, including those listed above, without prior written consent. If a student hides reference information, the student’s name will not appear in the student directory.
To request that directory information be withheld, complete the Directory Information Opt-Out Request form and submit it to Academic Services. The form is valid until the end of the academic year; must be resubmitted annually. Score reports are available at the end of each term in the Registrar’s Office and are available on the Cal Lutheran website under WebAdvisor.
Grades And Grade Points
Any discrepancies between this report and the student’s personal records must be reported to the Registrar before the end of the following semester. Sabotage: Engaging in any activity that makes it difficult or prevents another student from doing their work.
This may include changing or removing resources or discontinuing experiments. It may also include creating a condition that impedes the ability of other students to take the tests. Students who meet all three conditions will be excluded from the academic examination.
Students may be subject to academic suspension if these conditions are not met. Students who meet criteria 1 and 2, but not 3, may be tested in the second semester. Students must earn a specified GPA for work completed at Cal Lutheran and all co-curricular endeavors at Cal Lutheran and other college work.
They must also complete at least 30 qualifying semester credits at Cal Lutheran to be eligible for benefits. The only circumstances in which Cal Lutheran will release information other than the directory is in the event of an emergency or personal safety, and to notify parents of changes in their student’s academic status.

Transfer Credits
The Registrar will determine the acceptability of other post-secondary courses; faculty in the respective majors determine whether transfer credits meet specific major/major requirements. Pass/No Credit Assessment is available on a limited basis. Only sophomores, juniors, or those in good standing may enroll in a maximum of six (6) courses for a P/NC grade.
A Pass/No Credit grade must be selected prior to the deadline to take the class without academic penalty and may not be asked to change the letter grade later. Special: Applies to students who are not degree candidates or who do not fit traditional classification categories.
Students may attend special status for one semester or a maximum of 12 credits with the registrar’s permission, at the end of which they must submit their credentials and be formally accepted by the Admissions Office for admission to subsequent semesters.

Course Additions
IP (In Progress) is awarded for theses, internships, internships and courses for which work has been assessed and found to be satisfactory to date, but must await completion of assessment. IP does not have credit until it is replaced with a permanent degree.
An IP grade may be substituted for an appropriate final letter grade within one calendar year of the start of the class. Unresolved IP grades will be converted to F (undergraduate) or NC (graduate) at the time the student’s title is announced.

If the Vice President for Academic Affairs determines that this is a first offense, disciplinary action will be considered by the professor. Possible sanctions may include an “F” in homework or an “F” in a course.
Students who have been expelled from the University must submit a letter of appeal to be considered for reinstatement. All students reinstated after suspension are subject to the same rules as students placed on probation during the second semester.
Statement On Academic Honesty
The Low Pass level was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is equivalent to a D-, D, or D+ and is valid until the fall of 2020 or until the end of the pandemic emergency.
Students who earn a semester GPA above 2.0 in their first semester on probation may be placed on probation for a second semester, in which they raise their Cal-Lutheran and cumulative GPA to 2.0 or higher.
Students who are on probation in the second semester and do not have an overall or Cal Lutheran GPA above 2.0 are generally academically suspended. Currently enrolled students who plan to transfer additional credit from another institution must obtain prior approval from the Registrar.
Students with a bachelor’s degree in professionals must also have the prior approval of the director of the bachelor’s degree in professionals or the dean of the school or Professionals and Continuing Education. The committee elects its chairman.
Repeated Courses
The Committee will seek written submissions from all interested parties and evaluate all available evidence. The committee shall submit its recommendation to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, whose decision shall be final. Paper Mills: Submitting papers to vendors of academic papers (“Paper Mills”) is no different than submitting papers to other students for submission as original work and is a way of promoting academic dishonesty.
Articles published in “Open Access Journals” or made available to the public with the sole intention of publication are accepted. Bachelor’s Degree for Professionals: Dean’s Honor Roll: Students with a Cal Lutheran Institutional GPA of 3.6 or higher and enrolled in 24 or more qualifying credits during the academic year (Fall-Summer)
will have to place their names on the Dean’s List. honors for that academic year. Grades earned by removing the “Incomplete” will be considered when determining the Dean’s Honor Roll. If a faculty member or other university official has reason to believe that a student has violated academic integrity, the faculty member or official will confront the student, giving the student an opportunity to speak on his or her behalf.
If, in the opinion of the faculty member, a breach of academic integrity as described above has clearly occurred, the faculty member or official may file an Academic Dishonesty Report with the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Second Degrees

A minimum initial fee must be paid when exercising the right. Cal Lutheran accepts transfer courses from regionally accredited institutions. Students may transfer a maximum of 70 semester credits from a high school/community college and/or 4-year institution.
Credit is generally awarded for courses considered equivalent or substantially equivalent to Cal Lutheran courses. Equivalence is usually determined based on information from catalogs, syllabi, and other materials. However, undergraduate transfer courses may be used to fulfill elective credit.
Students may transfer a maximum of 40 military credits to count as elective credits. Students may apply for employment from non-regionally accredited institutions. Coursework is graded on a case-by-case basis. The request must include a curriculum vitae for each course requested.
Withdrawal From Courses And Withdrawal From The University
Credit is awarded only for coursework deemed to be substantially equivalent to Cal Lutheran courses. Students may add courses during the first two weeks of the semester. Students may not add courses after the second week of the semester.
When a student is granted permission to add a closed class, the student must bring an additional form signed by the teacher to the registrar’s office. A closed class cannot be added online. Instructor permission is required to add all classes after the first week of the semester.
Students enrolled in professional undergraduate courses may not add courses after the end of the add/drop period, which is 8 days after the start of the period. After the first session, all late additions require instructor permission.
Students will not be added to closed courses or waitlists. A general definition of academic dishonesty is “any behavior or action intended to make someone believe something false, such as making a false appearance.” Because intellectual honesty is fundamental to the academic enterprise, students and teachers must accept and respect the principle of acknowledging the information, ideas, and language of another person.

Plagiarism (any failure to document sources), cheating, unethical computer use, and aiding and abet
ting academic dishonesty are examples of behavior that will result in strict disciplinary action.
