Together, groups will learn how to manage stress, develop healthy relationships, balance complex emotions, and live with intention. Participants will also explore the role of creativity and artistic expression as tools for mindfulness and the importance of using our creativity to serve others.

The Covid-19 vaccination is free for all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration or insurance status. We also encourage everyone aged 5 and over to get their updated Covid-19 booster shot if they had their last dose of vaccine at least 2 months ago.

Our guidance department is the backbone of our arts and academic program. Students are assigned a career counselor based on their major who follows them for four years providing academic, social-emotional, and college counseling.
Our guidance department also has three social workers, a post-secondary specialist, a substance abuse prevention and intervention specialist (SAPIS), and an assistant director for guidance. However, schools must continue to report all cases of Covid-19. Please continue to notify us if a staff member or student tests positive for COVID-19 by emailing [email protected] with the date of onset of symptoms, date of last school, date of positive COVID-19 test, and type of COVID-19 notification.

Today we welcomed our students in the spring semester! It’s hard to believe that the fall semester went by so quickly. I look back and am very proud of the artistic and academic achievements of our students in and out of the classroom.
Our fall season of professional-level performances and demonstrations sets new standards for high expectations while keeping student voices front and center. As we move into winter, we may have blizzards or other weather conditions that require school buildings to close for the day. This year, if New York Public School buildings are closed due to inclement weather, distance learning will be held that day.
Students in kindergarten and older must register and attend classes from home. Children participating in a LYFE or 3K or Pre-K program at an elementary school or Pre-K center must participate in distance learning experiences as specified in their program.
In December we celebrated with the spectacular All-School Musical – Chicago: Teen Edition featuring students from every studio, a sensational Winter Term Art Show and a phenomenal Winter Term Philharmonic Orchestra and Senior Choir concert. We also had a wonderful LaGmas featuring members of our Show Choir, Wind Symphony, Chamber Winds and Jazz Orchestra, as well as simple light boards from Chicago displayed for festive cheer.
These events would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, alumni and families. This season of thanksgiving, we are turning our attention to those who need community support the most.

We have also heard from the community that LaGuardia is a school with rigorous academics that holds students to high academic standards. As we near the end of the fall semester, this is a follow-up to the Math and Science Assessment Policy Note from early October.
Ms. Kleiman also hosts Zoom sessions every Friday on a specific post-secondary topic. We invite interested families to attend these large group presentations on Fridays at 9:00 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. These two zoom meetings contain the same content and are offered twice a week to accommodate parent/guardian schedules.
If a parent/guardian cannot attend live, they are recorded and posted online in our post-secondary parent/guardian record archive. Invitations are sent out on Thursdays and a summary with presentation slides is provided after the Friday sessions.
Different weeks may be important for different audiences, and we also share recommended audience tag levels where appropriate. Upcoming sessions are: On January 17, 2023, families and students in grades 9 and 10 were sent a link with the date, time, and room number where students take the citywide periodic tests in English and math used to guide.

NYCSA and Teachhub progress report cards are scheduled to be available on Tuesday, December 13th after teachers submit their grades. We understand that some MP1 households experienced a delay in the availability of progress report cards in the NYCDOE system.

In Lagardia, a group picture of a group of graduates in a class that has been going on for a long time – and each studio – is included in the annual book. In most years, it is completed by the graduation hall that runs up to the Bethesda Fountain, Central Park, for photos.
All 11th graders are automatically registered to take the SAT, and all 10th graders are automatically registered to take the PSAT10. Both exams are offered free of charge to all 11th grade and 10th grade NYCDOE students regardless of family financial status.
