Nusl Academic Calendar – Northeastern University’s Boston School of Law distinguishes itself as an institution with its longstanding collaborative legal education program. The law school calendar is year-round, and each quarter, second-year and third-year law students alternate between attending classes or completing fellowships at firms, agencies, corporations, and elsewhere.

(Some of the experiences are paid, some are abroad.) By the time law students graduate, they will have completed four co-op experiences, and Northeastern reports that about 40 percent of graduates find work in previous co-ops.

At Northeastern It Really Is All About You

Without completing co-ops, students can still get hands-on legal training in clinical programs that address civil rights and restorative justice, poverty law and practice, prisoner rights, and more. Northeastern law students are not graded; Instead, they are given written references from both professors and employers.

So there are no class ranks or GPAs either. Students seeking a dual degree have a variety of options with other departments at Northeastern or nearby institutions. For example, students may choose to complete a JD/MBA in conjunction with Northeastern University’s School of Business or a PhD/Master of Science in Sustainable International Development at Brandeis University’s School of Social Policy and Management.

There is also a dual master’s degree in environmental law and policy offered by Vermont Law School and a Juris Doctor/Master of Public Health offered jointly with Tufts University School of Medicine. Outside of coursework and co-op assignments, NUSL students can explore Northeastern Law School’s suite of institutions, including the Health Law Society and Human Rights Caucus, and apply for membership in the Northeastern University Law Journal.

Students must complete a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer community service prior to graduation. The application deadline for Northeastern University School of Law is March 1. The application fee for the full-time program at Northeastern Law School is $0.
