Penn State Harrisburg Academic Calendar – Mail and parcels can be collected from Olmsted mailroom E137A between 11:00am. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Penn State students on all campuses, including Global Campus, will receive an email with information about completing the Food and Housing Needs Survey.

Considered one of the best programs of its kind in the country, Schreyer Honors College promotes academic achievement with integrity, builds a global perspective, and creates opportunities for leadership and community involvement. Schrier Scholars, including those accepted after the first or second year of enrollment, are a diverse and motivating group of the nearly 2,000 students at University Park and 20 Commonwealth campuses.

The College strives to educate students who will make a meaningful and ethical impact on the world, improve academic practice, and continue to be recognized as a leading force in honors education across the country. Civil engineers are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining critical systems that support society and protect the environment.

Graduates of the Civil Engineering program are prepared to become creative leaders in a variety of industries. Students are often employed in jobs in the public sector and government agencies or in the private sector in consulting firms or construction companies.

Students may also choose to continue their formal education by pursuing an advanced degree, and many remain in academia after graduation. Penn State Harrisburg offers two honors programs for students who are determined to achieve academic success and who want to further their undergraduate education.

These two programs are the University’s Capital College Honors Program and Schreyer Honors College. Online room selection (or self-assignment) is an option for current students and select first-year groups to log into eLiving and select a specific room they would like to live in.

Schreyer Honors College

This option may not be given to all groups or to all organizations; Students unable to participate in online room selection enter contract preferences and are assigned to staff. The campus has a state-of-the-art fitness center that includes: a 5,000-square-foot cardio/weight room, full-size gymnasium, racquetball courts, team practice rooms, and a variety of outdoor equipment.

The Aquatics Center offers seasonal and recreational swimming options including open and swim hours. When your restaurant fee goes down in dollars, you can also add money to LionCash. Existing Campus Meal Plan account holders benefit from using LionCash funds to top up your Campus Meal Plan and receive the same discounted price as the meal plan.

Students simply tell the cashier that they have a meal plan on campus and the appropriate discount will be applied. More than 100 student clubs and organizations suit any interest, whether you want to get involved in service projects, join a fraternity or sorority, participate in college decision-making through Student Government, or join a club that will help you achieve your major or career goals.

Integrative studies courses are required in the general education program. N is the suffix at the end of the course number used to identify the course between domains and Z is the suffix at the end of the course number used to form an associated course.

Career Paths

An academically disqualified student who fails to maintain a semester GPA of 2.00 or higher will be suspended from school. A suspended student may not schedule courses at the university for two consecutive semesters. (Note: the summer term is equivalent to one semester.) The ORO serves as the main point of contact for external grant submissions, provides assistance with budgeting, ensures that grants meet donor needs and dispatches grants to donors on behalf of the University.

Additionally, it develops and maintains relationships with individuals and organizations from the community, organizations, and the private sector. A student who fails to achieve a GPA of 2.00 is placed under academic probation. A student placed on an academic warning will have their enrollment temporarily suspended and will be required to consult with an academic advisor to remove the resumption of enrollment.

To remove the academic warning, the GPA must be 2.00 or higher. The Dean of the College or the President of the Campus and the faculty of the program may request 24 credit hours of major courses to be taken in the area, college, or program in which the degree was obtained.

Credit applicable to degree programs may need to be obtained from a specified source or within time limits (see Senate Policy 83-80). Honors Program

With multiple academic offerings—including master’s and doctoral degrees—and two strong honors programs, you’ll gain real-world knowledge and experience through graduate projects, internships, and undergraduate research opportunities in STEM, public policy, health, and more. Saikou, a Mechanicsburg-based sushi company that serves sushi and poke products to all of the regular diners at Penn State University Park, donated $1 for every nearly 1,300 boxes of sushi sold on Homecoming Gameday (Oct. 23 vs. Illinois) in central PA.

If you are interested in another housing option, you can add your name to one of the housing option waiting lists on eLiving when it becomes available. Adding your name to a waiting list does not guarantee that you will be re-allocated to that housing option.

Waiting lists may not be available for all housing options. The courses listed below provide just one of the many possible paths for this program of study. The University may make changes to policies, procedures, academic offerings, and requirements at any time.

Research And Outreach

In this challenging and diverse field, civil engineers find solutions to critical environmental problems, including slowing progress and minimizing the effects of climate change, eliminating the causes and addressing the effects of environmental pollution, and providing access to clean water.

In recent years, the rapid use of new technologies has encouraged the development of autonomous vehicles, 3D printing, smart buildings, advanced materials, and new forms of renewable energy.
