Umn Academic Calendar 2022 – The School of Law Office will select an interim dean for the 2023-24 school year as it conducts a nationwide search for a new dean, according to a statement from Vice President and Provost Rachel T.A.
Croson. In a statement, Croson thanked Jenkins for his work, noting that “Dean Jenkins has served the Law School and the University as a whole with great distinction. International reputation, including promotion of the school’s ranking of 25 and 6 best law schools.”

Jenkins received a Bachelor of Arts degree. from Haverford College, an MA in Civil Law from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review.
Upon graduation, he worked as a clerk for Judge Timothy C. Lewis on the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit. Last fall, the Minnesota Lawyer magazine honored Jenkins with the Diversity and Inclusion Award.

Jenkins, who has served as President and William S. Patty Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School since 2016, has been elected President of Bates College and will be leaving Minnesota Law School on June 30.
Law, Jenkins was Dean of Education and the John C. Elam/Voris Sather Professor of Law at Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law, where he is also director of the Law and Leadership Program, Leadership. an education and development initiative whose co-founder Jenkins sits on the boards of directors of Haverford College, Access Law School, National Women’s Law Center, Equal Justice Works and Guthrie Theatre.

He is also Chairman of the Board of the United States Legislative Council. By appointment of the Governor, he is currently one of Minnesota’s Commissioners on the Uniform Law Commission. Prior to joining the academy, Jenkins served as Executive Director and General Counsel for the Goldman Sachs Foundation, a global organization with over $200 million in turnover.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, he was an associate at the New York law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where he advised public and private entities, as well as advised private equity and negotiated mergers and acquisitions.
