With an estimated 11 million deaf or hard of hearing people in the UK, we aim to increase our understanding and awareness of d/hearing and support those in our organizations who are d/deaf or hard of hearing. The Inclusive Employers Standard (IES) is an accreditation tool that measures how inclusive your entire organization is for all employees. In this webinar we will introduce you to IES, what it measures – the six pillars of engagement and how it works. Young professionals are now more skilled and knowledgeable than ever before, they are equipped with skills and potential and are very aware of the standards they expect from employers. Taking an inclusive approach to career development for young professionals allows you to demonstrate your commitment to their growth in a way that promotes the best of their skills and talents and retains the potential future leaders of your company. Activity Tips: Recruit a vet to come and share with your group. HR departments can partner with the Guard and Reserve’s local employer support. Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is an organization that works to ensure employer support for employees who are also members of the Guard or Reserve. International Women’s Day remains an important awareness day and celebration. Equality is not yet achieved and in the workplace this can be seen at many intersections – pay gap, women occupying lower positions, bias in hiring, women leaving the labor market due to poor flexible work options that fit the needs of their lives. . To change this, we need to be active allies of women in the workplace, address the barriers and take steps to evolve the workplace to create space for women to excel at work. Activity Tips: Highlight the achievements of prominent female employees in your company. Conduct focus groups to assess the experiences of women in your workplace. Invite diverse female mentors and speakers to engage your team during the month. People with neuroticism often face challenges in the workplace. Due to negative stereotypes and stigma, neurological disorders and characteristics are not always recognized as opportunities in the workplace. Not only does this create barriers for neurotic people to progress, it prevents employers from accessing the best skills, knowledge and ideas that neurotic people have to offer. In this webinar, we will highlight the many benefits of neurodiversity employees and show examples of how neurodiversity people have contributed to their organizations. Activity Tips: Hold trivia competitions with your team so staff can learn about the diversity of Asian culture, history and achievements while collaborating and competing with co-workers. Take a field trip. It may not be practical to book a flight to Asia, but you and your team can go on exciting online tours of Asian museums, landscapes and heritage sites. Being anti-racist takes courage and action. It’s about visibly challenging discrimination and engaging in conversations that lead to action and change. This webinar will focus on how to move anti-racism from conversation to action. Focusing on the workplace, we will look at what anti-racism looks, sounds and feels like in practice, and explore actions organizations and individuals can take to become anti-racist. The world is rich in diversity, which is reflected in the celebrations held by its various cultures and inhabitants. Knowing about the diversity holidays and celebrations in this calendar can improve workplace diversity and inclusion efforts. I believe a simple strategy is better than a long, overly complicated process that won’t stick. The experience of trans, bisexual and non-gendered people in the workplace is often negative. Unfortunately, it is all too common for transgender people to face discrimination, isolation and abuse, both in the public arena and in the workplace, despite special protections under the Equality Act. Many organizations do not have the basics in place: access to gender-neutral restrooms and changing rooms; data options for all; gender categories and pronouns; Transition in work policy or training. Focus: National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) takes place September 15 to October 15 each year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive history of the American Latinx community.
