Official Count Dates
The main benefit is that it allows us to better serve the health and well-being needs of our students. It also creates a balance between the fall and spring semesters, allowing for the same one-week break in each area, giving our teaching and learning community a break between semesters and a break that allows time for true rest and recovery.
The Calendar Innovation Committee, which met in 2019, was initially charged with reviewing our academic calendar and making recommendations that further student-centered efforts to provide a strong academic experience that supports teaching arts and community life.
In 2020, the committee did its work to provide recommendations for responding to the pandemic, leading to a proposed 14-week semester, piloted in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022.
