Everywhere you look, days are wall-to-wall people. This is an approximate population level. Also, your sleeping habits are different here. If you’re a night owl, days with short hours might be a bad idea, because when you get out of bed, you might find you have a few hours to enjoy the parks.
Explain The Math
Conversely, if you’re an early riser and usually want to leave the parks by 7pm or later, shorter/less busy days are better for visiting. Check the Disneyland park schedule when planning your trip. While this calendar is subject to change, it will not change like the Walt Disney World calendar, which was never clear when it was first announced.
First, things stay on the recruiting trail. Even though Disneyland has done relentless recruiting and staff advertising, the cast is not enough. Because of this, Disneyland tends to devote more resources (such as Cast Members) to Saturdays, while releasing more reservations for those dates.
Every holiday affects the crowds at Disneyland, and you should go right after Rise of the Resistance (the new attraction in Star Wars Land) is about to open, so be prepared for crowds. Come early and use a good strategy every day and you’ll be fine.
Disneyland is the second most visited theme park in the world (18 million visitors per year compared to approximately 58 million at Disney World). So don’t expect to have the park to yourself at any time of the year.
When Is Disneyland Least Crowded?
But if long lines are a big concern, there are times when it’s less busy. If Disneyland hotel rates aren’t crowded during the time we listed, check the Anaheim Convention Center schedule. Hotel prices can skyrocket during large conferences.
Follow a travel plan like the one we put together. People follow a certain trend every day, which makes a travel plan the best idea to help you move in the opposite direction and increase your waiting time with less time.
Also, if you’re not interested in shows or entertainment like parades or fireworks, you can get more, as most guests tend to attend these events, drawing small lines. Since Disneyland is both a resort and a tourist attraction, it can be difficult to determine when the busiest times are.
In the sections below, we’ve taken into account nearby convention center schedules and last year’s crowd changes to create a schedule to help you avoid the crowds at Disneyland. This isn’t to correct the shortcomings of Disneyland’s 2023 public calendar, but we do want to briefly discuss why, despite frequent visits to the parks and all the information, our current understanding is still incomplete.
What Do I Do If Disneyland Is Crowded?
If you do not have a reservation for June 20-23, you will not be able to enter the grounds on those days. June 24th is the first day open to the public, no reservations required. I recommend getting there as early as possible, the first day will be busy.

If it were up to me, I would line up two hours before the park opens! When ground capacity is reached, they switch to a digital queuing system. The earlier you are, the better. Good luck!
Then click “save time” or “save money” and leave the rest to Community Calendar. We automatically select the best days for your family to travel that month, excluding busy days at Disneyland. I was prepared for long wait times, so we paid $30 per person per day for Genie’s service.
Several times during the day, our chosen ride will be “temporary”. Toy Story Mania has been depressing all day. The ration will undergo reform, which is good, but why is everything bad? There have been many times when they would only accept people who stuck the trip to reserved guests and paid only for Genie cards.
Christmas In Disneyland![]()
I think this will be a big problem when vaccines are available for children. It looks like it’s going to be ready for immediate use around November? I haven’t taken my kids to the park this summer, but I feel very comfortable once they are fully vaccinated.
I’m sure there will be a huge boom by the time the vaccine is announced for children, and perhaps when it is fully approved by the FDA. In fact, there are other wildcards on Disneyland’s public schedule that make it difficult to predict arrivals in advance or wait times for specific dates and times.
However, the above variables can be determined in advance and make predicting the overall seasons much easier. So here’s what we’re up to: I’ve updated the page to reflect that we’re still waiting for Oogie Boogie dates in 2020.

I hope my kids think I’m the best “Disney creation” out of Florida, not knowing they’re actually reading a blog. Hi Tom! I’m going to Disneyland on Presidents weekend. I usually try to avoid holidays, but this is the only weekend we can go.
Do you think it will be less busy than usual because people are delaying their trips until Galaxy’s Edge opens? We bought a Maxpass to use on our trip and get 3 days of parking. Thank you!
In addition, Disneyland has resumed sales of new Magic Keys annual passes. They’ve been
available for updates for almost a year, with the exception of a brief one-day window last fall. There’s no telling how many new Magic Keys have been sold since its reinvention, but we’ve already felt and seen the impact with the crowds and our visit to Disneyland in the winter of 2023.
So will you come Christmas. Find Sleeping Beauty’s castle and it’s lit up, the main street is filled with decorations, and the rest of the park is beautifully decorated to celebrate the season. Regular exhibits and experiences are changed to match the theme of the holiday.

Parking hours are usually shorter on less busy days and longer parking times on busy days. Therefore, many people believe that they can make the same amount of money in a short day during the less busy time of the year than during the busiest time of the year.

This is not true with good plans for park trips or strategic use of Genie+ and Lightning Trails. With a good strategy, you can get more done in a busy day and more hours in a short day with easy people.
Disneyland Weather
So what we’re going to do here is give you the tools to choose the best days to visit Disneyland and the worst days to avoid. Instead of making bold and definitive statements, I’ll cover the main variables that affect most people so you can decide for yourself which dates might be good or bad.
If that’s more work than you want, we’ve got more recommendations too, given that the crowds at Disneyland can vary! In general, if the forecast is not at the same level of population, you will not notice any difference in your garden day.
Target within 1st level people. In fact, anything between the 2 levels is considered “good” by most people. Losing people at level 3 or more is a big miss and is best avoided. Now that you’ve decided when to visit Disneyland, it’s time to book your trip.

the most savings when planning your Disneyland vacation. More info here > In this case, we subtract the predicted population from the actual population. For example, if I predict a level 10 at California Adventure, but the day ends with a level 8, the difference is -2.
When To Visit Disneyland At Halloween
We predicted a crowd of 2. But if we predict a level 4 crowd at Disneyland and the day it goes to level 7, the difference is 3. I recommend this time of year as a prime candidate.
It’s high when you visit Disneyland, but if you stay between Christmas week and the first week of January, expect to join the crowds. The best time to visit and see the Christmas decorations is the first two weeks of December or the second week of January.

California Adventure… this is seriously the worst calendar we’ve ever seen. We rarely see anything that misses more than 5 community ratings. And here we see 25 missed 5 population levels, 8 missed 6 population levels, 4 missed 7 population levels and even 8 missed plural levels.
