The weekend of the Walt Disney World Marathon is usually influenced by crowds, as the event draws thousands of runners and spectators each year.
Traffic around the resort is also affected by the Walt Disney World Marathon. Please allow for longer travel times between Disney parks when traveling during this special event. We have a separate post on what to expect from the Disney World Marathon if you want to start planning!

We plan to be at DisneyWorld October 27-29 and would like to visit the Magic Kingdom to see the fall decorations. Given the low crowds, is it better to visit MK on Disney’s After Hours Boo Bash dates or on a regular day?
Epcot International Festival Of The Holidays
We are not planning to attend the Boo Bash as tickets are sold out for the day we are there. Is “Kiss Goodnight” also restored in MK and only visible on non-event days? One of the last holiday events at Disney World every year, you can usually expect the last EPCOT event of the year, the last week of November, with the Holiday Festival – and in most years it’s open on Black Friday after Thanksgiving
. and usually runs until just before New Year’s Eve. This year’s festival dates are November 26 to December 30. Summer is usually a very busy time to visit amusement parks. June, July and August are the peak months for families visiting Disney World.
While the crowds can be heavy this time of year, with a little planning ahead you’ll have a great time. If your schedule is flexible, you can beat the crowds a bit by visiting in early June or late August!
The Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend combines the magic of the Disney Run with the festivities of the Food and Wine Festival. Races typically include the Disney Fall Feast 5K, Kids Races, and Half Marathons.
I Can Only Visit During The Summer What Are Crowds Like?
Half-marathons and Disney Two-Course Challenge participants can celebrate at the Food and Wine Festival’s exclusive post-race party. Enjoy major highlights such as Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, Mickey’s Most Merry Celebration castle show and Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks.

Answer – It depends. There are several factors that can influence the crowds. It’s true, any day is a good day to visit Walt Disney World, but some days are less crowded than others. Here are some examples of factors affecting crowds: Mid-November 2023 – Early January 2024 (dates vary for special events) Walt Disney World Resort sparkles during the holiday season with dazzling lights, happy songs and blizzards.
Holiday Happenings Events
Throughout Walt Disney World there are Christmas carols, impromptu parades, tree lighting ceremonies, visits from Santa Claus, incredible decorations, exclusive dinners and ticketed events. Mid-August – October 31, 2023 Adults and kids can make their way through the Magic Kingdom as they experience Halloween magic throughout the park with Disney characters, special parades and fireworks, and more.

Guests of all ages are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes. This is a special hard ticket event on select nights. No word on whether the event will be offered in 2021. Attendance: Ticketed event open to the public Venue: Magic Kingdom, 7pm – AM.
12 Impact: MK’s original endings for MKey’s Not-Scary Halloween Party. Magic Kingdom may be less crowded on holidays due to early park closures. Guests with event tickets can enter the park around 4 PM. With Disney World currently limited to 35% capacity in all four theme parks, they are not as busy as they used to be.
However, we will see this change as restrictions begin to be lifted in 2021. But in the meantime, with Disney’s intention to keep the Park Pass system through 2022, there are some dates that aren’t as readily available as others.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Here are some times to avoid if you’re concerned about crowds or park pass availability. I traveled in October and noticed on both of my reserved dates – Epcot October 27, 2022 and MK October 30, 2022 that both fireworks shows are “closed”.
Is this normal? Any idea why this could be? We will be very disappointed if we miss both shows. Thank you! We are planning a great trip to Orlando for our teens for Christmas gifts this year on New Year’s Eve.
We are UOAP and will definitely go there. Will Disney add more dates for after-hours events in early January 2022? We were looking forward to going to a Christian concert at Disney World. We see that the one that was there for a while has been canceled.
Is there another planned and if not, why? It’s one of the biggest draws for many of your fans. End of November – December 30, 2023 A stunning retelling of the Christmas story in words and music, complete with a 50-piece orchestra, choir and celebrity guest narrator.

Admission to last year’s Saturday concerts included a day at one of four theme parks. Night of Joy is a separate ticketed event. Hi, if I purchase my airfare through another website and not from Disney, can I still have a Magic Express bus delivered to our resort or do I have to purchase my airfare through Disney to take the Magic Express?

Candlelight Processional
In recent years, we have sometimes seen Star Wars merchandise or new items on sale especially for this day! March 1 – July 5, 2023 Epcot’s Future World and World Showcase flourish during this annual spring festival featuring more than 30 million colorful blooms, interactive gardening activities for kids, and workshops with gardening experts.
The event will also feature the Marketplace Food Kiosks, Garden Filling Topiaries, and the Garden Rocks concert series. Participation: Open to the public (requires theme park tickets) Location: Epcot Impact: Potential additional crowds at Epcot. Additional Live Entertainment on World Showcase • President’s Weekend – Third Weekend in February (February 18-20, 2023) – While no specific events are scheduled, this traditionally marks the start of the Spring Break season.
Resorts can be overbooked. All parks can have extra crowds. Dates are still TBA, with fireworks, parades and some regularly scheduled extended park hours, but it’s the season for the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival, so get ready for lush landscaping, topiary GALORE and garden-themed food!
In 2021, the festival was held from March 3 to July 5, 2021. We are looking forward to the next one! This isn’t a full-on “TBD” – we’ve got an opening season for this! The Guardians, Marvel’s misfits from across the galaxy, are about to land at EPCOT – and they’re bringing a massive indoor roller coaster with them!
Epcot International Flower Garden Festival
• Competitions and exhibitions for youth teams – take place at various times from January to March. Youth activities (i.e. sports, dance, cheerleading, singing, band) can be scheduled in common areas. These activities may lead to overbooking by younger groups at some resorts, especially the All-Star Resorts.
Additional traffic can significantly increase noise levels. There may also be the possibility of certain park attractions being arbitrarily closed to be used as event venues, such as the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Extended park hours and special fireworks. • The Great Irish Hooli Festival – September 4, 2023 – This Labor Day weekend celebration on Raglan Road in Downtown Disney features top Irish bands playing traditional and rock tunes, Irish dance workshops for all the family, structured set dancing, Celtic face painting and authentic .
Guardians Of The Galaxy Cosmic Rewind
Food and drink. I am sad that there is no longer a Night of Joy event in the park. Many people enjoyed the event and I believe our world today needs events like this that are uplifting and inspiring.
• Jersey Week – The first or second week of November – the New Jersey Federation of Teachers is held during this time and state schools are closed. Many Jersey families choose to vacation at Walt Disney World during this time, resulting in fewer resorts.
All parks can have extra crowds. Billed as a “Summer 2022” opening, we finally get to experience what’s been going on for the past 84 years in the old building of the Universe of Energy (we kid, we kid! But seriously, they built this thing).

New Year’s Eve
This special event takes place after regular park hours and requires a separate party ticket to enjoy all of the exclusive offers. Running from 7pm on select nights until midnight, the party features rare characters, special entertainment, fun treats, ride covers and more!
There is even “snow” falling on Main Street all night long. The 2022 celebrations ran from November 8 to December 22. • Gay Days – May 31 – June 5, 2023 – Annual non-Disney sponsored event in June.
Actual dates vary annually. Unofficial public and private events take place at Disney and other Orlando locations. Events are scheduled on specific dates at specific Walt Disney World parks. Extra crowds can be added for one day at specific parks.
Some theme parks and water parks for private parties may close earlier. For more information, visit the official Gay Day website. We will update this post throughout the year as new event details are released and dates are added. As we plan our EPCOT visits around Stayin’ Alive each year, I look for the lineup each week.
But the lineup has always been posted in early April, so I assume the rumors of its demise are true. Is this about Mickey’s not-so-scary Halloween party? Many of the party dates are selling out earlier than ever this year – we think 2019’s eventual return is due to high demand.
Disney After Hours returns to Walt Disney World this year with select dates at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios! These separately ticketed events allow guests to stay outside of regular park hours with limited crowds. That means you’ll encounter little to no lines while you wait for rides, meet-and-greets, and other experiences at the parks.
