If you do, you will receive an admissions decision by January 15th, automatically considering the maximum scholarship. Students applying for regular or continuing admission will automatically be considered for the remaining scholarships/awards. Choosing to apply by November 1 does not make it easier to get into MSU, and the Office of Admissions does not promise special benefits to early movers during admissions review, such as higher priority or lighter consideration for your application.
Applying during the early action period is one way to get a decision on your application by January 15th and increase your scholarship consideration. Advance action is optional, meaning you do not need to apply to Michigan State University if you are accepted.
Electronic submissions must be received by the application deadline, and hard copy submissions must be postmarked by the deadline. You must request your ACT or SAT scores in advance and ensure that we receive these scores by the application deadline.

Note, however, that the MSU test is optional, meaning first-year applicants may apply without submitting ACT or SAT scores. Michigan State University continues to accept undergraduate applications until space is available. However, in recent years, the number of qualified applicants has exceeded vacancies, so students must apply by November 1 to ensure the highest grade.
Many students enter the fall semester. If possible, admission to other semesters may be restricted. Michigan State University courses are taught on a “semester” basis, and credits earned are semester credits. To convert semester credits to “quarter” systems, multiply by 3/2.
Multiply by 2/3 to convert quarter credits to semester credits. Ultimately, MSU looks to be the No. 7 seed right now, but a win over Ohio State and a good showing in the Big Ten Tournament could move MSU up from 8/9 to the No. 6 seed.

Most of MSU’s programs are designed so that a student who begins the program as a freshman can complete it in 8 semesters, satisfactorily completing an average of 15 credits per semester.
