Carroll College Academic Calendar – Students can view their grades through Carroll Self-Service mid-semester and at the end of the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The College shall not be held responsible for errors in the Mark Report unless the Registrar is informed of the errors within 6 months of the issue of the report.

After the lecturer submits the official grade report to the Office of the Registrar, the grade may be changed only within one year of its issuance and only in cases of fraud, error or a successful academic appeal by the student.

In exceptional circumstances, a change in class may be requested after the one-year period has expired. However, any change of grade after a period of one year must be approved by the Registrar. *This policy has been implemented campus-wide for all students and courses beginning Fall 2017.

Grade Reports

Carroll courses and transfer courses taken prior to Fall 2017 that met the previous requirements of the Pass/Fail policy. Courses taken Fall 2017 and later are subject to the revised policy, regardless of when the student began their studies at Carroll.

The academic year is usually divided into 2 semesters – autumn and spring – with 15 teaching weeks plus a week of final exams with 150 minutes allocated to each subject. A lesson is a 50-minute lecture, seminar or recitation, or 110 minutes of laboratory work.

The number of meetings per week and corresponding credit hours during the semester are specified in the class schedule. Experiential learning opportunities that occur during winter break are included as part of the spring semester for academic, financial, and academic purposes.

Grade Change Policy

Carroll also offers an optional summer term, which is divided into different sessions. A separate summer tuition fee is charged in addition to the academic year tuition fee. A grade point average of 2.00 is required to maintain good academic standing at Carroll College.

To maintain good standing, a student must maintain a 2.00 grade point average for both semester and cumulative work. A unit of academic credit is one semester hour. Typically, a semester hour is a 50-minute class meeting once a week and requires about 2 hours of preparation.

Thus, a class that covers 100 minutes per week has 2 hours of credit. 150 minutes per week, 3 credits; etc. One laboratory period (two to three hours) is equal to one class meeting. The minimum passing grade required before a student can receive credit is a “D”.

Carroll is not a one-size-fits-all place. We know that everyone is different and we are here to help you get the most out of your educational experience. After a semester of unsatisfactory work, a student enrolled in 12 or more semester hours will be placed on probation.

However, severe or significant failure to meet minimum academic standards after one semester may warrant academic suspension. Similarly, academic suspension may result after completion of a second consecutive semester of unsatisfactory work or after completion of a total of three non-consecutive semesters of unsatisfactory work.

The academic standing of a student who withdraws from the College and then requests readmission will be based on the student’s last term of attendance at Carroll. Students must meet the grade point average specified above to be considered satisfactory progress.

Credit And Grade System

Students who do not make satisfactory progress may be ineligible for financial aid, either institutionally or under the Title IV federal aid program. A grade point average below this standard of 2.00 is considered unsatisfactory. Full-time students on academic probation (6 credits or more in the summer, 12 credits or more in the fall or spring) when their semester grade point average is 2.00 or higher and their cumulative grade point average

If average, they are restored to good condition. 2.00 or higher if enrolled as a regular student. A part-time student on probation must complete at least 9 credits with the required standard grades to regain good standing.

A student with satisfactory success in the semester, but still with an unsatisfactory cumulative grade point average, remains on probation until the cumulative grade point average exceeds the minimum. and Incompletes are given only in exceptional circumstances that cause a student to delay completing the course.

A student must complete 60% of the coursework to pass before being awarded an “I” (Incomplete). The student must make special arrangements with a faculty member to complete the course, including a completion date (no later than the end of the next semester).

Good Standing And Academic Probation

A formal written request for an incomplete must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office before an incomplete can be awarded.In each of our areas of study, you will gain strong, founda

A student’s cumulative grade point average (GPA) is calculated using only grades earned on Carroll. A student’s grade point average is determined by dividing the total number of points earned by the total number of graded points attempted.

In calculating this average, each grade is assigned the following points: Carroll University’s academic programs are housed in two colleges and two schools. No matter what program you’re interested in or are still pursuing, you’ll find an exceptional student-centered learning experience characterized by individual attention and faculty support.

Restoration Of Good Standing

Credits transferred into a student’s Carroll College program from other institutions will not be accepted into the major, minor, or (as of Fall 2017*) major courses if taken on a pass/fail basis. No more than two such courses shall be permitted for graduation, whether taken at Carroll or at any other institution.

Suspension may result after one semester of unsatisfactory performance if very poor performance warrants such action. The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, in consultation with appropriate faculty and staff, will review these matters and make the appropriate decision.

Part-time students’ records will be reviewed after the student has attempted 12 or more semester credits. If a total of 12 or more semester credits is attempted, and the overall grade point average is unsatisfactory (below 2.00), the student will be placed on probation.

The classification system used is an alphabetical system using the letters A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D, F, I, P, W, NR and AU. The +/- grading option began in the 2015-2016 school year.

Grade Points And Academic Average

Grades are interpreted as follows: Students registering for such courses must indicate this choice at the time of formal registration. During the period specified by the academic calendar for each semester. After this period, students may not change their registration from regular grade status to pass/fail status or from pass/fail status to regular grade status.

Students on academic probation for a second or longer period (consecutive or concurrent) as a result of work at Carroll College may not hold office in student activities and organizations, nor may they participate in any university athletic competition, intercollegiate forensic competition,
