A dedicated GFL Route Manager will work with City staff on a daily basis to ensure ongoing customer service and support. Call City Services at (260) 356-4720 from 7 A.M. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday if you have any questions or concerns.
With one exception, your garbage collection day will remain the same. You can confirm the weekly collection day on the map above. (Specifically, the Hidden Hamlets area north of Old U.S. 24 near Broadway Street will have a new trash collection day starting the week of January 1st.) Please view the calendar below and check the recycling schedule. Best practice: Keep GFL containers on your property after they are disposed of at your home in December. Continue using the WM and Republic Services containers until the date you were last picked up in December.
Then leave empty WM and Republic Services containers on the curb so those companies can find and start using your GFL container. Following a competitive bidding process, GFL was awarded the five-year contract, effective the week of January 1.

Republic Services is experienced in meeting the needs of sustainable development and is committed to providing environmentally responsible solutions to meet current and future market and solid waste needs. Waste removal services are not picky about the items they collect, so unless the city will pick up the item, this may be your best bet.

There is usually a fee for waste removal, but most companies can tell you in advance how much it will cost. Please note that during the week when certain holidays are celebrated, garbage collection is canceled on public holidays.
This collection is no longer scheduled, instead residents will be allowed to drop off double the number of cans or bags of household waste on the next collection day. The maximum amount for a house per family after the canceled holiday collection is 12 cans or bags.
WM and Republic Services will receive their containers after your family’s last service date. Meanwhile, GFL will begin distributing the new containers to households throughout Huntington. There may be a short period of overlap where some households will have containers from GFL and WM/Republic Services, but this will not be for long.
This is the biggest change, but it should make things easier for everyone. Waste collection will continue on an alternating week A and week B cycle, but will now be on the same day as the collection for all households starting in 2023.
