College-Wide Grading Policy Statement
Only a failing grade achieved (F) can be converted to an NC grade with no credit given. No other classes are eligible under this policy. Note: SCV101 is not clinical and therefore not ruled out. Note: Students are strongly advised to consult with their academic and financial aid advisors before choosing the no-credit option.

Students complete the “NC Grade Request Form” and submit the form to NC Grade at [email protected]. Students must register within fourteen days of the deadline for each session. Application deadlines are published in the academic calendar. Grade Point Average Gpa
Academic progress is measured by students’ mastery in the course, as evidenced by their ability to write clearly and accurately, discuss, calculate, analyze, and draw logical conclusions between concepts. All students must comply with the College’s attendance policy, complete all assignments and exams completely and on time, and participate thoughtfully and constructively in class discussions.
More information on grading is included in the University-wide Attendance Policy, Plus and Minus Grading Policy, Department Grading Policies, and Programs. The GPA is a numerical calculation of a student’s academic record and is used to determine eligibility for graduation, honors, dean’s list, probation, and suspension.
The GPA is also used to determine continued eligibility for certain financial aid programs. The GPA is calculated per semester using the following criteria: The Dean’s List is created each semester to honor graduate or certified students who achieve academic excellence.

To be eligible for inclusion on the Dean’s List for a given semester, a student must have the following: To calculate your GPA, list all the courses you took at LaGuardia and note the grade you earned.

Write the numerical value of each degree using the table above. Next, write down the number of credits each course is worth. Multiply the value and credits using a calculator and write the answer in the quality score column.
Take the total number of credits and divide it by the total grade scores to arrive at your correct GPA. 2. All students will have the option of taking courses as an NC grade for up to 4 credits or 1 course.
Non-credit remedial courses will not be included in the NC grade option.
