Kvcc Academic Calendar – An enrollment restriction will be placed on the student’s account until the student meets with an academic advisor. In all cases, the student will be dismissed the semester after the academic dismissal (fall, winter, summer). A repeat course plan allows higher or lower grades to be excluded.

Only the highest grade or most recent GPA is added. The Academic Remission Plan is intended for students who have suffered in academic research and have been absent for a period of at least five years.

On your return, you can have a maximum of 16 credit hours at grades 0.0 or NC excluded from your GPA after successfully completing 15 credit hours with grades of 2.0 or higher. No more than two withdrawals may be made during the completion of 15 credit hours.

Course Grades

Under the condition of accreditation and quality assurance, students who transfer to a bachelor’s degree program within one year of earning a graduate degree from an approved transfer program with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher are required to have the knowledge and skills required for completion.

Kalamazoo Valley expects students to maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average for graduation and provides full counseling, tutoring, and academic support services to achieve this. Students who fall below this mark will receive targeted support under our academic probation policy to increase their chances of achieving their goals.

Financial aid students may be placed in Financial Aid Warning status if their grade point average falls below this minimum. Grades will be available online approximately four business days after the end of the semester. Students have the right to observe major religious holidays with or without penalty from any college administrator, faculty or staff member.

Attendance Standards

An absence for such a leaf will not be counted towards the number of leaves by the instructor or department. Students must submit a request for documentation to their teacher at least one week before the vacation, including the time of the vacation and the reason why the attendance is inconsistent with their religion and duties.

The need for training work must be established in advance with each teacher. If he enters into the agreement before, the student will not be fined. At the end of each course, the student’s grade is determined based on factors such as the quality, quantity and speed of academic work.

Federal regulations require class attendance. You must meet attendance standards before federal financial aid can be credited to your account. Listening class standards include frequency as determined by each teacher. Teachers who comply with this federal requirement will monitor and report your compliance status.

Athletic Information

Federal aid recipients reported as not meeting attendance standards will be administratively dismissed from those categories. Again, your financial aid will be reviewed to determine if a reduction in credit hours will contribute to your financial aid eligibility.

If a correction is necessary, the Help Desk will review your policy and notify you of this action. Students register for the classes they attend. Attendance requirements are determined by the course instructor. Students who do not meet the requirements set forth by the instructor may be automatically withdrawn from the course and may lose financial aid.

Under the condition of accreditation and quality assurance, students who are employed within a year of receiving a degree or certificate with a 2.0 grade point average or higher in a professional program can be expected to perform competently in their field of instruction.

Any employer who believes a Kalamazoo Valley graduate lacks appropriate entry skills and can identify such deficiencies may require remediation. Upon acceptance of such a request, the student may be allowed to take the specified course or courses without tuition or material charge.

Academic Honors

If you earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for all academic work undertaken, you will be awarded a college degree or an honors certificate. Students who graduate with honors receive special recognition in their announced program.

Kalamazoo Valley is an institutional member and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Various training programs are also licensed and/or approved by relevant boards and associations. Registered and prospective students who wish to review the College’s accreditation documents should contact the Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Services.

Students who do not attend the first class meeting, or who do not report the absence to the instructor prior to the first class meeting, may be withdrawn from the course at the discretion of the instructor.

At the beginning of each course, the instructor recorded the frequency of student questions. It is the student’s responsibility to consult with the instructor regarding official services. Absences begin to accumulate with the meeting of the first class.

Assurance Of Competence And Quality

If you received a failing grade (0.0, NC) in courses due to extenuating circumstances, you may appeal to have those courses removed from your Kalamazoo Valley transcript. This process will not increase individual course grades or remove courses from your transcript.

If you withdraw or file a valid appeal at the semester level, you may
be eligible for a refund under extenuating circumstances, where supporting documentation can be provided. Kalamazoo Valley also has a repeat course and academic forbearance plan.

These reasons do not require documentation of extenuating circumstances. You only need to meet the industry requirement so that the grade falls short of your grade point average (GPA). All attempts to successfully complete the course will remain on your transcript, but low or failing grades will contribute to your overall Kalamazoo Valley GPA.

Students who receive academic honors receive a letter in the mail and are placed on the honor roll, which is published online each semester. Academic honors are also noted on the individual transcript for each semester in which the honor is earned.

An official absence occurs when students are involved in official college activities, such as excursions, tournaments, sporting events, and provide an excused absence. Absences from such activities are not counted toward the number of absences authorized by the instructor or department.

Academic honors are awarded each semester for academic excellence. Initially eligible students must complete at least 12 credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 to be considered eligible. After this, a minimum of six credit hours per semester and a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 are required.

All coursework must be at the 100 level or higher. Classes using the credit/no-credit grading system, audited and withdrawn courses are not counted in the calculation and are not used in determining the minimum credits required for eligibility.

Repeated election semester courses have dropped to the original level. Students who are part of a semester cannot participate until the part of the course is evaluated. Kalamazoo Valley Community College is committed to educating and graduating high-quality students who are fully qualified to perform the skills required in their careers, and who meet the general education requirements of the college’s degree and certificate programs.

Kalamazoo Valley supports its students, prospective teachers, and institutional guest students who are fully enrolled in a degree or certificate with a 2.0 GPA or higher. Concert: 20-80% of your course attendance will be online. On-campus participation requires some face-to-face time to account for activities that are responsible for completing online (as lab strategies will require on-campus participation, part of the reading/discussion may be partially online).

Attendance is determined in advance in the field and is clearly indicated and explained in the lesson schedule and in the teacher’s lesson development schedule. They may also be required to take approved tests at an approved testing center.

Kalamazoo Valley understands that you may experience extenuating circumstances beyond your control that may prevent you from successfully completing or withdrawing from your courses, or providing a refund in the event of a course enrollment.

The college will consider extenuating circumstances, such as military service, medical conditions, loss of clients, permanent change of employment or, if you are the victim of a crime, an unexpected accident or life-changing event. Circumstances beyond your control, where you did not make appropriate communications or actions, or where you were unfamiliar with policies and procedures, not mitigating circumstances.

A written appeal must be submitted no later than two years after the end of the semester requested. All applications must be accompanied by supporting documents. These requests are reviewed by the Appeals Committee on the Friday of each month.

A maximum of 16 credit hours will be granted for appeals for grades and refunds. Notes: In the event of an academic dismissal, the student has the right to appeal. The first written appeal is the Academic Dismissal Application form.

Students must submit this form to the Kalamazoo Valley Counseling and Advising Office, located in Student Development Services, on or before the deadline stated in the application. In accordance with the federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, a student may access his or her transcript at any time with written authorization or by using the My Valley online self-service feature on the Kalamazoo Valley website.

Enrollment is limited to a maximum of nine (9) credit hours during the semester in which the student is enrolled. Online courses are very relaxed. Students requesting and/or requiring more than nine (9) credit hours to register must be approved by the Academic Advisor.

Graduation requirements for a degree, certificate or associate certificate of achievement may be completed during any period of enrollment. Commencement ceremonies take place at the end of the fall and winter semesters. Graduates are invited to commencement ceremonies in August.

In the event of the death of a family member, periods of up to one week will not count towards the number of absences for which the teacher or department is. Students should contact the instructor(s) as soon as possible to arrange the appointment.

Appropriate documentation may be required (for example, a copy of the obituary or funeral program). This rule may not apply in specialized programs that require clinical conversions.
