Lbss Calendar – Our Optimist Dinghy Course offers beginner sailing training through advanced racing skills. The LBSS program is designed to help sailors learn how to sail at an age-appropriate level. Green Fleet Optimist students must have completed their first year.

Students in the Learn to Sail and Green Fleet programs are not required to own a boat. Students in Red/White/Blue Optimist classes without Optimist can rent an LBSS boat (stocked at LBYC). Red/White/Blue Opti students without Optimist can rent a boat to store at home (hull, mast and oars, sails and damage deposit).

Contact Jim Kutschenrueter (262) 642-2515 to arrange. Note that a signed tenancy agreement must be on file with LBSS. These forms will be provided at orientation. It was a fun night of competition and camaraderie to support our sailing school.

Optimist Dinghy Courses

This is the only fundraiser held each year to support our sailing school, a 501c3 organization. Through the generous support of our yacht club members and sailing school families, we are able to offer an excellent, affordable sailing program for our youth and adult sailors.

The Lake Beulah Yacht Club (LBYC) sponsors three series for optimistic sailors. The coached Friday evening Green Fleet Series, the Weekend Champions Series (red, white and blue flights) and the non-coached Weekend Optimist Green Fleet Series provide multiple opportunities for parents and students to participate.

LBSS also offers the LBSS Optimist Regatta for all levels of Opti sailors. Other regional regattas are available and listed on the LBSS calendar. Registration forms for these and other events are available through LBSS. Green Fleet students are encouraged to participate in the Green Fleet Series on Friday nights.

LBSS coaches/senior students will be available for consultation on these games. Note that the red/white/blue OptiRacers are not on the water during the Fleet Green Series, so this is where the low-key intermediates begin racing. “Free” Opti Rentals are available for use during these races on a first-come, first-served basis.

Other Events For Optimist Sailors

The boats may have been set up for the Friday afternoon session, but the sailors and their parents had to put the boats away at the end of the race. LBSS Optimist Regatta, Kasjube Cup – Green, ILYA No Tears, GLSS Dinghyfest, Cedar Training Regatta (TRAC) and Pram Power are some of the local regattas that Green Fleet sailors participate in.

On Monday, June 27, the 30th annual LBSS Optimist Boat Regatta will be held for RWB and Green Fleet sailors. This is a great activity for both experienced sailors and new sailors to prepare for summer sailing fun.

To participate in LBYC-sponsored races, children must be members of the Beulah Lakes Yacht Club. Membership in LBYC is required to pay for insurance and trophies. Youth (Junior) membership to LBYC is for children under the age of 17 who participate in youth sailing activities.

For more information contact Brian Brickler at 847.812.2052 or email [email protected]. Classes are usually conducted in 3-hour sessions at LBYC. Please see the calendar for class times and dates. Red, White and Blue fleet coaches are also available at designated regattas for Red/White/Blue Optimist students.

Notice Of Nondiscriminatory Policy As To Students

The event begins at 4:30pm at LBYC with teams receiving instructions from the Amazing Race. All board a pontoon boat and travel to various locations around the lake. Each location has a game to complete (sports theme, yard game, etc.).

These games are suitable for all ages and skill levels. After the game, return to LBYCb at 7:00 for a social event, hors d’oeuvres and a sumptuous dinner from Toothpicks Catering. If you feel lucky, you can compete in head or tails races or organize a syndicate for racehorses.

A silent live auction made the evening a success. Wisconsin has a concussion policy. All organized sports are required by law to provide concussion information to players, parents and coaches. It is the coach’s and parent’s responsibility to confirm removal from the activity and evaluate any potential concussion.

Fact sheets for parents and athletes are on our website and there is an agreement form that is a required part of the registration process. We prioritize the safety of young and old and are excited to deliver this important message and comply with the new regulations!
