We require students to take a Lehigh-provided COVID test upon arrival on campus and receive a negative result before participating in classes or activities. Students who test positive upon arrival must self-isolate after the test. Students who normally enter campus during the holidays (for example, graduates) will take an “arrival” test starting the week of January 17.

Common Hour Exams

Where and when it will be held will be detailed in the next message. Depending on the spread of Omicron and the availability of tests, we may request pre-arrival tests to prevent large numbers of students from coming to school and requiring immediate positive testing and isolation.

Details will be shared as soon as possible and before the start of the season. You can pick up mail and papers during the summer at the University Post Office in Farrington Square. You are considered a “summer intern” to deliver the message.

When you pick up your mail, let the postal workers know that you are doing a summer internship. Use the address below: Happy New Year! We hope you find this letter helpful and that students enjoy their winter break.

With less than three weeks until the start of the spring semester, we are writing to share updates and information about incoming students. As a reminder, applications to increase University requirements will be accepted next Friday, January 14th for continuing students, faculty and staff.

Covid Testing

Please follow CDC recommendations for approval and timing (CDC recently updated its recommendations for Pfizer vaccine recipients). We have provided instructions to students on how to submit their documents, and faculty and staff will receive additional instructions this week.

Also, for clarification, if your health or religion has changed since you received your first vaccination and you would like to submit a new request, please follow the instructions in our Immunization Center FAQ link : “Can I provide medical or religious information to claim for a COVID exemption?”

related to the abuse you reported. As students return to school from around the world, the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly. Northampton County’s COVID numbers are at a record high. The good news is that we as a society have learned a lot about preventing the spread of viruses in our daily lives.

A large number of immunizations and vaccinations are needed to help the Lehigh community reduce the risk of serious illness from COVID and the spread of the virus on our campus and in South Bethlehem. Testing and testing throughout the season ensures a level of protection.

Most lectures are held remotely during the first week of the semester (January 24-28). Some classes and laboratory sessions are conducted in person at the request of the teacher. Students will be notified of their private lessons by January 15.

In-Person Courses

The change allows students to return to campus, receive a COVID test and, if necessary, complete the isolation period before classes begin. In this way, we reduce the confusion of students missing private lessons during the first week of the semester due to isolation or quarantine requirements.

We expect all teaching to resume as planned beginning in the second week of the semester. There is very little data on the transmission of COVID in the classroom when masks are worn properly, but there is not yet complete data on the transmission of Omicron in this setting.

The fall semester has required changes to health and safety protocols, and while COVID is with us, we look forward to building on the success of our first semester and working together to support a better and healthier marketplace on campus.

The first day of classes is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 24, 2022, with most of the distance learning taking place during the first week and face-to-face learning continuing on Monday, January 31. as planned;

The Summer Institute at Lehigh College of Education offers international students the opportunity to interact with faculty and other students in an intensive learning environment. Summer camp runs from the end of June to the end of July every year.

Classes are offered on a combined 5-9 day schedule with a 2+ day break between each class. PLEASE NOTE: Registration and course services will be remote the week of March 13th through March 17th and will be available via Live Chat or email.

Online Courses

The office will be closed from 11:30am to 5:00pm on Wednesday 15th March for a staff event. We have reviewed options for our Summer Institute in 2022 and have decided to offer the course on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

If changes or changes in Covid regulations require us to contact the Solar Centre, we will notify students of any changes immediately. If you have been accepted to one of the programs but are unable to travel to the US next summer, you can postpone your application or summer course until the following year.

Food will only be available from January 23-30. This includes all outdoor dining and retail spaces (eg Rathbone Dining Hall, Cort @ Lower UC, Brodhead and Grind @ FML). Check the restaurant’s website for hours and more information.

In March, the US Department of State will invite you to the IHome platform, where you will submit the necessary documents to obtain an F1 I-20. The F1 I-20 will help you get a student visa.

Final Exams

The visa must allow you to enter the US 30 days before the start of the course and stay for 60 days after the course ends. At Lehigh, masks are still required at home regardless of vaccination status, and we recommend wearing a disposable surgical mask, KN-95, or KF-94 instead of a mask if possible, as these masks are effective.

Health Requirements

Submitting a Positive COVID Test: Students who have recently tested positive for COVID must submit documentation of a positive test to Health and Wellness Centers through the patient portal and are not required to submit pre-arrival or post-arrival testing.

Individual summer camp students must provide proof of COVID vaccination in the patient portal or request a medical or religious exemption (instructions here). Students do not need to fill out additional forms or submit a signed evaluation form to their website.

Distance learning students should withdraw from campus only in the summer by going to link.lehigh.edu > Banner > Personal Information > Response to Inquiry > Spring 2022 Campus Withdrawal. Visit coronavirus.lehigh.edu for updates. Additional exams may be given at the teacher’s request when it is not possible to pass the final exam.

Make-up may also be provided if the student is expected to take three tests in one day. An application to take one of these exams during the repeat period must be submitted to the Dean of Students no later than one week after the exam schedule.

Ongoing testing throughout the semester: Continuous testing, contact tracing and tracing will continue as in the fall semester, with surveillance testing determined based on the number of COVID cases at the facility. Screening tests are conducted at least weekly for unimmunized students, faculty, and staff.

M.Ed. Student advisors at the International School and M.Ed. Educational Administration students take three courses each summer during the summer term. International School Diploma students take two courses in one summer. Students are encouraged to take required courses, but may take fewer courses each summer and return in the fall.

Here is the class schedule for February 3, 2022. Students attending classes beginning June 23 should plan to arrive by June 22 and attend orientation after the June 23 session. Students attending classes after the summer do not need to attend orientation on June 23.
