Magic Kingdom Calendar – When it starts raining at Disney World, thousands of families immediately start running back to their hotels. Considering rain is common in Central Florida it can be tempting, waiting out the storm and staying in the park is one of the best ways to beat the crowds.
Unfortunately, there is no exact answer to how long your trip to Walt Disney World will last. Of course, we all want it to last forever, but alas. The recommended length of stay will vary depending on who you ask.

It’s a popular opinion that even after two-three weeks at Walt Disney World Resort, you still can’t accomplish what you set out to do. With four theme parks, two water parks, four golf courses, nearly 30 hotels and more, it can be difficult to complete everything on your list.

We are completely transparent about our prediction success rates. The top of the Crowd Calendar always provides a summary of how well our forecast matches the actual crowd observed the previous day. We publish a monthly article on our blog at touringplans.com/blog, summarizing how our forecast fared the previous month.
And we change our analysis periodically to keep our numbers on track. May was quiet and probably our favorite month to visit since last year with extremely short wait times which made us very happy guests.
Things picked back up in June and picked up in July where it felt like normal Disney World crowd levels again. Much of this had to do with increasing theme park capacity and returning entertainment options to the park.
We have listed all the months and sorted them from least busy to busiest in order from 12 to 1. When creating our Crowd Calendar we assigned a number to each day of the year from 1 to 5 to indicate how busy the day was.
School Schedules
We then tallied those numbers for a final point total at the end of each month, with the highest number being the busiest month of the year. One of the biggest things to consider when trying to beat the Disney World crowds is the school schedule.
When it’s the school season, families are less likely to travel to Disney World, meaning there are fewer people in the parks on those days. If possible, don’t go to EPCOT on weekends. We just talked about Florida locals coming to the park on Saturdays and Sundays, and Epcot benefits the most from this trend.
This is another great one. Go outside the box and don’t eat your meals at traditional times. Not only will you see shorter lines to get food, but if you go to attractions while others are eating, you’ll likely see fewer people queuing.

Guests staying at one of the Disney Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resort hotels receive extended access to the theme parks on select nights. That means you can stay late at the park and continue enjoying the attractions while all the other guests go home.

We personally use Rene Cittadino at Show the World Travel for our Disney World reservations, and we highly recommend him and his amazing team when you are planning your trip. Trust us, they make the process more enjoyable.
Some of our predictions for 2022 came true (visitors returned to Walt Disney World in a big way), but, with many unforeseen factors, we were also very wrong. Any projections for 2023 should be taken with a grain of salt because traffic congestion has been harder to understand in the past few years, and we’re far from perfect.
We expect congestion levels to ease after visitors leave after the festive season in January 2023. It will probably be the least crowded of the entire year. Although the 50th anniversary is still underway, it should be around a normal January.
Depending on our plans for the rest of the day, we sometimes return to the same park later in the evening, when it’s quieter. This allows us to not waste time in the middle of the day when the lines are longest and relax later.
What Do The Crowd Calendar Numbers Mean?
May March and April should ease the crowds and then things should get busy again in June. The peak of summer is July when all the kids are out of school and many families are traveling to Disney World.
Walt Disney World saw more than 20 million guests enter the Magic Kingdom last year alone. This can mean some pretty big crowds! To help you avoid this influx of guests, note the following tips and guidelines
We have divided each day in the calendar into one of 5 colors. Each of these colors represents the expected crowd at Disney World that day Colors and crowd levels are as follows: Things pick up in March and April as people start traveling more for Spring Break and Easter.
The parks were extremely busy during those months and even at low capacity it felt like the parks were full. If you hate waiting in line like we do, the Disney Crowd Calendar is a lifesaver!

Disney World In Spring And Summer![]()
If there’s such a thing as a Disney-planning toolbox, it’s your hammer, an essential tool that never leaves home! Obviously, we don’t recommend #2, and we think if planned properly, you can still have a great t
ime if you visit while the kids are out of school.
A trip to Disney World is expensive, but prices are also much cheaper when the kids are in school. All holidays are not created equal and some are busier than others. Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving, Easter and the 4th of July are the worst and the times when families visit the most.
This is because with the convenience of having about a week or so off from school, a trip to Florida is possible. Then what happened in 2020 with parks closing and guests rescheduling for future dates or canceling their vacations entirely due to financial issues.
2020 was on pace for one of the busiest years at Disney World in recent memory, and things turned into the lightest crowded year overnight after the parks reopened. Each of these festivals lasts from 1 to 3 months, and in total, there are less than 3 months each year when no festivals are held at EPCOT.
Using A Touring Plan Is Times More Important Than Which Park To Visit
Locals are attracted here as it is a great place to meet your friends and wander around the World Showcase while having some snacks and drinks. Since theme parks are usually at their peak attendance from early morning to late afternoon, this is a tried and true technique that will significantly improve how many rides you can take in a day and help you avoid the crowds.
A must do if you visit the park on holiday. This is of further concern as many economic experts are predicting that the US could enter a recession in 2023. If that happens and if inflation stays high throughout the year, we could start to see some relaxation in park attendance again.
Genie+ costs $15-$29 per day, per guest. With this fee, guests can reserve special time slots such as FastPass+ for attractions they want to ride all day. They return when called in that time slot. The degree of congestion is based on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the least congested and 10 being the most congested.
The scale shows the average waiting time between 11 AM and 5 PM at major attractions Another great advantage of returning to the hotel in the afternoon is the escape from the scorching heat from 12 noon to noon.
How Important Is Choosing The Right Time Of Year To Visit?
It can be painful at times and you may be too tired to stay in the park until evening, which is most enjoyable in the heat. I booked to go to Disneyworld from April 13th – April 18th without looking at this calendar (I found this great calendar) and I think I made a mistake because your calendar says it’s very busy that week.

Is it bad? I highly recommend visiting at Christmas time; However, if you are there from the first week of January until the week of Christmas, you should expect a steady stream of crowds. The best time to visit and see the Christmas decorations is the first two weeks of December or the second week of January.
The two November holidays usually make for a very busy month (at least half), and traffic levels in 2023 could be even higher than normal. We think the marathon and Veterans Day will see heavy doses as usual.
We’ll be able to say more once Columbus Day rolls around and we’ll see how many people show up which is a good sign for that. Let’s face it, most families (especially if you have young children) can’t go a day without a rope until the park closes at night.

I don’t have kids and I can’t either! This technique is great because it allows you to enjoy the two best parts of the day and skip the worst. That last one is important. No two guests visiting the Magic Kingdom on the same day could agree on the sentiment of the crowd.
It depends a lot on their personal perspective: what time of year they usually visit, how experienced they are, whether they’ve used an itinerary and so on. However, everyone should agree on what the posted average wait time was from 11am to 5pm.
If you plan to visit at a time of year when a carnival, dance or other sporting event is taking place, we recommend trying to avoid booking a room at one of the host resorts. The primary host resorts are usually 3 All-Star resorts (All-Star Sports, All-Star Movies and All-Star Music).

Like November, December will have periods of overcrowding and moderate congestion, and the way things are shaping up should compare to a normal year, maybe even more.

Crowd levels are always low at the beginning of the month until the week before Christmas, when they gradually increase.
