The Academic Calendar Committee, made up of parents, teachers and administrators, reviewed the comments and submitted its final recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
*Texas public schools are required by law to start after the fourth Monday in August EB(LEGAL). Since Round Rock ISD has been accepted as a district of innovation, the district may not begin instruction for students for a school year before the second Monday in August AF (LOCAL).

As in previous years, two days of operating minutes are accrued within each calendar to allow time for school closings due to things like inclement weather. Professional development days and holidays are also included in each of the calendars and have been adjusted based on community feedback to align with various religious holidays that represent our diverse community, such as: Each calendar includes a two-week winter break to provide families with additional travel days during the holidays, and students return for the semester

Spring during the first week of January. William joined Community Impact Newspaper in December 2019. He covered the cities of Plano, Richardson, Frisco and McKinney as a reporter and editor before becoming managing editor.
