Uncg 2023 Calendar – Graduate admission to a degree or certificate program may be deferred for a maximum of one year from the initial admission period. The student is responsible for contacting the department to determine whether access is granted for a subsequent semester.

Login details or supporting materials submitted for admission to the Graduate School become the property of the University and will not be returned. Copies will not be provided to third parties outside the University except when required by legal authority.

However, copies will be provided to the appropriate offices of the University for the benefit of academic matters or financial awards in relation to the applicant. Applications and supporting documents are retained in accordance with the retention policies of the State of North Carolina.

Completed applications are forwarded to the department or program for review. Processing a request can take several days even under the best possible circumstances and may take slightly longer during peak traffic. The graduate school makes every effort to process applications on time.

By using the full functionality of the online application, you can facilitate this process. Waiting for unfinished prints can extend processing times. The web-based program allows you to save your progress and return to input information later.

Log out after each session. Only the recommendations section can be updated after an application has been submitted. On February 16, 2023, the State Personnel Commission approved audits of the University covered by the Human Resources Act (SHRA) Employee Grievance Policy.

The policy revisions will take effect on April 1, 2023. A final copy of the policy will be available on the Human Resources website for information no later than April 1. Below is a list of important policy changes for your

review. Applications are sent to graduate school first. Once the Graduate School has processed your application, it will be reviewed by a Graduate School Admissions Specialist and forwarded to the Director of Graduate Studies in the appropriate department or program.

The graduate school considers an application complete when test results, transcripts, letters of recommendation and payment of the application fee are associated with the application. An admissions specialist will carefully review applications and notify applicants when additional information is needed.

Departments and programs then review the application and make recommendations for admission to the deanery of the graduate school. Because departments and programs determine their own processes and timelines for reviewing completed applications, the Graduate School cannot provide a general timeline to expect between application submission and a final decision.

You are required to notify the University immediately and in writing of any new or pending criminal charge, any criminal disposition or charge, or any school, college or university disciplinary action taken against you, or any form of

military discharge other than honorable discharge or any unusual absence from school, which occurs at any time after you submit this application and before registration. Your failure to do so may be grounds for refusing or withdrawing your entry or for canceling your registration.

Days of the week Distribution of spring meetings The one-day shortage on Fridays in the spring is compensated with the one-day surplus on Wednesdays. **Employees may use earned vacation time, bonus leave, compensatory time, personal observation leave or leave without pay for the day(s) the University is closed. Employees who have not earned vacation time can make up the time with management approval.

Employees can also work remotely during these days with the approval of their managers. The purpose of the qualification evaluation report is to validate your academic qualifications and ensure course credits and US degree equivalencies are completed correctly.

This also eliminates the need to have official translated transcripts from your school(s) sent to UNCG. Once the application has been submitted, you cannot change or modify the application online except on the recommendation page. Changes related to contact information, application period, program, degree, or concentration must be submitted by completing the Request to Change Information on a submitted application form available in your application status portal.

All applications to graduate school will result in an admissions decision. Offers of admission are not official until approved by the Dean of the Graduate School. Official admission decisions are communicated to applicants via email by the dean of the graduate school.

Prospective students can view the status of online admission application on the applicatio
n portal. Click on “Manage your account” and then on “View all forms.” If the admitted candidate does not register for the semester specified in the admission notice, admission may be subject to cancellation.

UNCG observes several holidays during the calendar year that cause the university to close. Please note the dates below that occur during the calendar year. If you have any questions, please contact Human Resources at 334-5009.

An academic record that exceeds the minimum requirements, satisfactory scores on standardized tests, or professional expertise alone will not ensure an applicant’s entry into this competitive environment. Rather, the overall record must indicate the high probability that a prospective student will successfully complete the graduate program.

Employees are encouraged to view the University’s revised SHRA Employee Grievance Policy as the above lists important policy revisions but does not include all policy revisions. A copy of the policy can be obtained by contacting the Human Resources Department at [email protected].

If you answer “yes” to any of the questions, you will be asked to provide an explanation stating the approximate date of each event, explaining the circumstances and reflecting on what you learned from the experience.

The University reserves the right to request an additional statement from an appropriate officer confirming your account, either before acting on your request or before allowing you to register. Your failure to provide such a statement upon request may be grounds for denial or withdrawal of your entry or termination of your registration.

STEP FOUR: BE VERIFIED After submission, you will receive an email confirming receipt of the application and an introductory message from an admissions specialist. These and all future correspondence will be sent to the email address provided in your application.

Faculty in the graduate programs recommend students for admission to graduate school after they have assessed the potential of each prospective doctoral student. Programs have considerable discretion in determining admissions standards and class sizes based on factors such as the availability of academic mentors, financial aid, laboratory space, and the distribution of students within areas of interest.

To request a deferment of admission, admitted students must submit a completed Deferment of Admission form, found in the online application, to the Director of Graduate Admissions by the first day of classes in the first term of admission.

The deferral request must relate to a specific entry period. The admission term must also be for a semester in which the program is listed as an admission term offered. In an effort to maintain a safe learning community, we must ask all applicants campus safety questions.

For the purposes of these questions, “crime” or “criminal liability” means any crime other than a misdemeanor or traffic-related offense. However, you must include any alcohol or drug related offenses whether or not they are traffic related incidents.

Answering “yes” to any of the security questions on campus does not necessarily prevent you from being admitted. However, failure to answer these questions or failure to answer fully, correctly and honestly may be grounds for denial or withdrawal of your admission or for dismissal after registration.

After considering the application, the department will forward the form to the Graduate School, who will inform the student of the decision. Merit-based financial aid, ie. teaching/research assistantships, scholarships and fellowships are not deferred; the student must compete again for the prizes.

Admission to a UNCG degree or certificate program is a process shared by the graduate school and the graduate program. In order to be considered for admission to the degree, applicants must meet the requirements for the graduate school and the graduate program.

STEP FIVE: CHECK APPLICATION STATUS To check the status of your submitted application, log in to your account again. When the application materials are received, the “Application Checklist” section of your account will be updated. Please note: once you have submitted your application, edits can only be made on the recommendation page.
