Anne Arundel County School Holiday Calendar –

With the final school year 2021-2022 coming to an end, Anne Arundel County School students and staff can begin to look forward to the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Please check back for any possible changes or are advised to visit the Anne Arundel County School site for their approved 2022-2023 schedule.

Answer: The last day of school for an AACPS school is June 16, 2023. This date may be subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. However, students and staff can expect the last day of school on this date without any changes.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools will transition to healthy school hours at the start of the 2022-2023 school year. To provide families, students and staff with as much information as possible, members of the Board of Education attended a series of information sessions to provide more information about school hours in their specific districts.

Sessions for each district, as well as specific sites and magnet programs, can be viewed below. There is something special about the holidays. They are times when we can be with family and friends, celebrate happiness and give thanks for all that we have.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) recognizes this holiday season by celebrating different holidays each month. Each month, AACPS staff celebrates a different holiday or cultural event. For example, students celebrated Hanukkah in November. Students celebrated Christmas in December.

In January, students celebrated Kwanzaa. Students also celebrated Valentine’s Day in February. The district serves more than 203,000 students in over 130 schools. The AACPS district has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education since 1958 and has maintained that accreditation for many years.

All three Anne Arundel County high schools with STEM magnet programs now have national recognition. The AACPS STEM Magnet Program promotes learning beyond the walls of the classroom with multiple field experiences that allow students to interact with the Bay Area and learn about their own impact on the campus ecosystem.

STEM teachers support learning opportunities that differ from computer science, environmental, or math majors and strive to make learning relevant to all students. Lindale High School earned its certification by meeting America’s Magnet Schools criteria for diversity, innovative curriculum and professional development, academic excellence, high-quality educational programs and family and community partnerships.

In accepting the award, Principal Linda Chandler praised the school’s commitment to STEM education and community partnerships. “Our STEM program enhances students’ learning experiences by creating opportunities they may not have known about or had access to,” Chandler said.

“The community partnerships developed over the past three years were essential to achieving this recognition and enabling our students to become change-makers for our community.” To be recognized as a National Magnet School of Excellence, a school must demonstrate the ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curriculum and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magne
