Ferndale Schools understands the importance of making our websites accessible to people with disabilities.

We strive to provide information to all visitors, and we strive to increase the accessibility and usability of our site, while adhering to various standards and guidelines. Our Black Month theme this year at Ferndale Upper Elementary is Black Excellence and Joy.

At FUEL, we believe it is important to balance perspectives on Black history, by educating students about the many Black innovators, leaders, and activists throughout history, color to those who influence our present and future. One of the ways FUEL focused this week on Black excellence was by inviting Black Ferndale graduates from FHS and UHS into classrooms to speak to students about

their experiences growing up and graduating from Ferndale. They inspired the students by sharing the path they took to their current careers. Our students were very excited to learn from each guest speaker. We welcome many successful Ferndale alumni to inspire current students to strive for excellence.

We are pleased to introduce two new team members joining our regional management, as well as two experienced faces bringing their experience to the new role. Please join me in welcoming them to the Ferndale family.

FHS bands and choirs participated in this past weekend’s Michigan District 4 School Bands and Soloists and Ensemble Conference. Ferndale students participated in 37 event performances, approximately 1/3 solo and 2/3 small group, at the Royal Oak event.

Of those 37 events, 20 were rated 1 (Excellent), 13 were rated 2 (Excellent) and 3 were rated 3 (Good). The three grade levels represent a solid level of success and musical performance, the result of hard work and dedication, mostly (sometimes completely) individually, without direct support from

musical staff. At FPS, we are a school family that is always learning. We support each student to develop their projects, plans and interests. We encourage and respect information about the history, values and goals of our communities.

Actively and thoughtfully promote fair access and representation, meaningful participation, and high expectations for ALL.
