We are asking our campus community to prioritize their personal health during the final weeks of winter break. During this time, good public health practices and responsible behavior will be critical to reducing our positive case count as we approach the start of the spring semester later this month.

Proper use of face coverings, maintaining physical distancing, regular self-monitoring for possible virus symptoms, and frequent good hand hygiene are huge in our efforts to start the spring semester successfully. Off-campus students Students living off-campus must register anytime between January 18 and 30.

We encourage students to complete this process as soon as possible after returning to the Ithaca area and not to wait until the last minute. Students who fail off-campus registration and testing will lose their IC Health Badge status and will not be able to access campus resources or participate in in-person instruction once reinstated on January 31.

In addition, students should be aware that under updated New York State guidelines, individuals are not considered “fully vaccinated” unless they have completed the original vaccine series and received a booster dose if they qualify. This symptom has significant implications for quarantine protocols, meaning that if it turns out you’ve been in close contact and you haven’t been fully vaccinated and boosted, you should be quarantined under updated New York State public health guidelines.

This is a change from the previous protocol. With these details in mind, it is important to complete your education in a reasonable amount of time to avoid significant disruption during Spring 2022. Information for students who test positive for COVID-19 during pre-arrival testing Students who test positive for COVID-19 during pre-trip testing are encouraged to contact [email protected] for further guidance and assistance with

the late arrival process. finished. Students are allowed to travel to Ithaca if they have tested positive for COVID-19 and are still in a mandatory isolation period or mandatory quarantine period due to close contact under updated New York State guidelines.

Extended Extra Week for Move-In: January 18 – 30 To minimize our return to campus and to be more thorough with the registration and arrival testing process, Ithaca College is extending the move-in period for an additional week.

Spreading our move-in period over a long week also makes it easier for the college to manage the quarantine and isolation area in accordance with updated New York State public health guidelines. The entry tests for residential students and the arrival tests for all students will take place from Tuesday 18 January to Sunday 30 January.

Beginning the semester with a week of virtual learning is designed to reduce the likelihood of significant academic disruption. Students who test positive shortly before their scheduled trip to Ithaca can complete isolation at home, while students who may test positive during the trip or after arriving on campus avoid missing classes due to isolation.

It also provides more flexibility for students whose commute to campus may be affected by inclement weather, airline cancellations, and/or other circumstances. Ithaca College Opens Spring 2022 Semester in Yellow Operational Status Ithaca College continues to monitor our confirmed positive COVID-19 cases and will provide updates on the operational status of the College regarding COVID-19.

Based on the available information, the College is currently operating and will open Spring 2022 in “Yellow: Low to Moderate Risk” operational status. For the general health and well-being of the campus and Ithaca communities, we are asking all individuals, regardless of their pre-COVID-19 test results, not to travel to Ithaca if they feel unwell.

A negative COVID-19 test is a timely snapshot that does not indicate a possible early stage COVID-19 infection or other infectious diseases. Ithaca College will work with these students on a tailored plan for them to return to campus once symptoms have subsided.

Spring Semester Begins Online Instruction for the Week of January 24-28 To accommodate the extended transition period and provide more flexibility to our students, Ithaca College will begin its 2022 Spring Semester completely virtually for the week of Monday, January with instruction beginning.

Restrictions include permanent restrictions on non-academic social functions and the suspension of visits between residential communities. In addition, Ithaca College strongly advises outside visitors not to visit the campus unless they are dropping off their students for transfer or participating in a campus tour organized through the admissions office.
