Whenever I read or hear another email about the swastika being painted at our school in 2023, the phrase “never again” echoes in my mind. The swastika is a symbol that brought destruction to my people.
It is the flame that has fueled some of the most heinous crimes humanity has ever seen. Three inclement weather days are included in the school calendar if schools must be closed due to inclement weather.

I speak to you today to recognize and commemorate an important but often unrecognized day in our global calendar. As members of the human race, we are taught to stop and remember all the Jewish men, women and children and other disadvantaged people who have been subject to these evils and the darkest days of our collective human history.

Since I was a boy learning Hebrew in Jerusalem, these are the words we learned to remind ourselves that the atrocities committed by the Nazis under the Third Reich must never be allowed to happen again.

I ask everyone to think about friendship here. Your so-called friends may actually be Jewish. Remember that what you do affects not only this school, but everyone in the world. Instead of contributing to mass hatred in this world, we should be contributing to the advancement of connection.
