Another outstanding investment of the College is pioneering community service through the Outreach Program, which operates under the School of Service Learning. The college has occupied around 50 slums (urban villages or slums) around the college campus, which fall under zone 5, 7 and 8 of Chennai Corporation.
UG students have to complete 120 hours of community service and PG students travel to villages to prepare themselves and start life at the grassroots level to serve these underprivileged people in the future. Students are responsible for selecting courses, completing degree requirements, and familiarizing themselves with regulations that affect their status.

Through Loyola Community Radio, the college has helped transgenders, gypsies, widows, visually impaired, street vendors, slum dwellers, auto drivers, etc. Over the past nine decades, Loyola University’s contributions to higher education have been impressive and notable as educational pioneers who have created a whirlwind of innovation and experience.
Loyola provides significant financial support for students with disabilities. Each semester, the college administration provides a fee waiver to students from poor families through Jesuit Educational Support (JES). During the year 2018-19, the college released Rs.1.60 crore as administrative fee to 2600 students.Another unique project which has become a tradition among educational institutes across the country is the development of LRRS during November 2015 rains.
– Affected people living in the slums of Chennai with food and clothing. Loyola Rain Relief Services has a medical team of 30 employees and 250 student volunteers and 8 doctors providing medical care to nearly 1,750 flood victims in the Loyola area.
Through LRRS, a rain relief camp has been launched for Post Graduate students to provide employment in rain affected areas, especially those affected by Typhoon Gaja in November 2018.
