In addition to events for students, Oakton hosted three events — free and open to the public — about feminist movements in the global South in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

Classes that are not scheduled to meet on these days and that do not meet during the term will usually use the last class for teaching or final student assessment or final course activities.

Add your event using our simple event submission form. Select Web Update Request Form from the drop-down menu, then select Events. Add your details and we’ll add your event to our calendar. Oakton Community College recognizes the wide diversity of religious affiliations of its constituents.

The College has accepted the practice of sharing responsibility if religious observances interfere with class work or assignments. Students who notify teachers of religious major absences in advance will not be penalized. Instructors will provide students with reasonable accommodations, which may include offering make-up exams, rescheduling assignments, allowing students to take another portion of the same course at the same time, or taking medication.

Teachers are no longer responsible for teaching materials. Teachers should inform students of these practices at the beginning of the semester so they can adjust accordingly. Give equal consideration to staff and administrators and make provision for them in their respective contracts.
