Uoft Academic Calendar – Standing Year Year by September. Students who successfully complete ≥ 3.5 full academic courses enter their second year, ≥ 8.5 full academic courses enter their third year, and ≥ 13.5 full academic courses enter their fourth year.

Calendar entries explicitly state that no personal events are required. We will not withdraw the scholarship if you meet all the conditions on the offer letter. Remember, your final high school grades are an important part of your future academic performance – keep up the good work!

Important Note

Learn more about Entrance Scholarships here. We strongly encourage you to meet with your academic advisor to discuss your academic plans for the upcoming year. It is important to choose courses that will help you gain good standing or be eligible to continue your trial at the end of the winter session.

*In programs with a final exam, the CR/NCR option must be applied for or canceled by the last day of the program period. In programs without a final exam, the deadline to apply for or cancel a CR/NCR is before the final exam date or final assignment deadline.

If you decide to suspend your studies, you can request to defer your offer of admission for one year. If approved, deferring admission will include deferring any awarded entry scholarships and residency guarantees (if applicable). Applicants planning to attend another higher education institution may not defer their admission.

You can find instructions and an application form here. Unless specifically requested in your offer letter, U of T expects your final grades to match the submitted midterm/expected grades. Small changes are nothing to worry about.

Students On Academic Probation

If you keep working hard all year, you’ll be fine. If students are still unable to take the courses they need to graduate, they should meet with an academic advisor in the Registrar’s Office during their first registration for guidance on next steps.

Follow the course requirements listed on the academic calendar for the course you are enrolled in (i.e., if you are registered for a summer 2019 session, you will follow the course requirements listed on the 2019-2020 academic calendar).

If you decide to drop all classes during the fall and winter season, ACORN will ask you if you want to cancel your registration before you drop the last class. If you are sure you do not intend to register for any other classes for upcoming classes, please cancel your registration.

If you cancel your registration within the applicable time frame, the incidental/related fees will be fully or partially refunded. Full details can be found on the Student Accounts website. Some programs are deregulated, which means they cost more and have a different fee structure.

Cancelling Your Registration

See the Fees for Deregulated Plans section of the Plan Selection Guide for more information. It’s important to understand the fee structure before adding a deregulated plan. The University organizes reasonable accommodations around the needs of students celebrating religious holidays, rather than those already on regular schedules and statutory holidays.

The Office of the Vice President and Provost publishes the annual schedule of religious observances. Our offices have dedicated staff available to provide you with one-on-one support and answer any questions you may have about course selection, academic options, and financial aid options.

Our Academic Advising and Financial Aid teams are here to help. Contact us through AskRegistrar. Requests will be processed after the request period has expired. An approved request will result in the first attempt being marked as additional and the CGPA recalculated to account for this change in your academic performance.

Please note that the academic standing of previous courses will not be reassessed. In programs with a final exam, the SAC option must be requested by the last day of the term in which the program is offered.

Religious Observances

In programs without a final exam, the deadline to apply to the SAC is before the final exam date or the final assignment due date. No action was taken. You are not registered for an upcoming class and the registration deadline has passed.

This status has been placed on your account to reflect that you are not currently registered and therefore will not be charged for the session. Follow the degree requirements listed in the academic calendar for the course you are admitted to as a degree student at the University (i.e. if you are admitted from September 2020, you will follow the degree requirements listed in the 2020 academic calendar – 2021).

If you miss the withdrawal deadline and have it removed from your transcript, your last option to withdraw at your own discretion is to request a late withdrawal (LWD) online, up to a maximum of 3.0 points.

UTM students enrolled in courses at other U of T departments (Scarborough or St. George) follow UTM’s academic and financial withdrawal dates, except for the deadline for requesting a late withdrawal after the Withdrawal Date (LWD) or credit/no credit.

Your invoice will show a balance due of $0 until you receive a place in your course. However, you must prepay $311 to reserve a seat. Please note that if your current balanc
e is $0, ACORN does not accept credit card payments but accepts any other payment method such as online banking.

Students who appear to be able to complete 20.0 credits will have a graduation request listed on their ACORN record. Students who confirm their graduation request and are assessed as “Completed” will receive their degree at the next available commencement ceremony, whether or not they are available to attend.

When you register for a course, ACORN will allow you to claim credit/non-credit for the course at one of three U of T campuses within the appropriate application period. This option allows you to complete the course without compromising your GPA.

Instead of getting a numerical grade, a “CR” or “NCR” symbol will appear on your printout. KPE432H1 – Legal Aspects of Sport, Recreation and Kinesiology This course examines Canadian law and its application in the fields of sport, recreation and kinesiology.

Students With Only Waitlisted/Interim Courses

Students will gain a fundamental knowledge of the law and practical skills to solve legal problems and become future practitioners in the fields of sport, recreation, physical education and healthcare. Legal topics include contracts, regulated health professions, liability and risk management, human rights and discrimination, privacy, intellectual property and dispute resolution.

Students will gain hands-on experience negotiating and drafting contracts and participate in simulated decision-making processes affecting legal rights. Finally, students will gain an understanding of contemporary and emerging legal issues related to safe sports, social media, esports and competitive conduct.

Prerequisites: KPE200H1, KPE220H1 Category: B Instructor: M. Mazzucco When: Tuesdays 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Mode of Delivery: Face-to-face Students who are dependent on OSAP or other government aid should speak with a financial aid advisor before dropping classes.

In some cases, dropping a course can result in significant changes to your funding and put future qualifications at risk. Students who drop courses will have their OSAP entitlements reviewed and may not be eligible for a refund as it may be sent back to NSLSC to pay off your existing loan balance.

You’ll also find links to important policies, statements and guidelines, as well as links to important contacts. If you are registered for at least one course, you will be able to view your invoice on ACORN when fees are posted online (see above for posting date).

Invoices are not sent by post, but you can print them at any time using your internet browser settings. For dates related to programs at other campuses, see the relevant calendar (such as the UTM calendar or the Faculty of Arts and Sciences calendar) and registration guide.

If you are waitlisted for the maximum number of credits and need additional courses, you must decide whether to remain on the waitlist or remove yourself from the waitlist to add courses with available space.

Graduating Students

We are committed to ensuring that graduate students have access to a range of courses that will allow them to graduate within normal deadlines. This obligation is dependent on the student doing everything necessary at the best and appropriate time indicated in this guide and the academic calendar.

The Second Attempt for Credit option is limited to Mississauga students who have been approved to repeat a previously passed course (using the course registration exception form), regardless of year, course level or campus. While the University strives to maintain a personalized learning environment, the University reserves the right to change the way it offers curricular and co-curricular options in response to health and safety emergencies and public health guidance.

OSAP and other government student aid recipients can enroll beginning mid-July and are exempt from paying the Enrollment Minimum Payment on Student Network Services/ACORN invoices if they have received or expect to receive more than $0 in OSAP or other government student aid
