Taking The Next Step Toward Success

In 2022, the pandemic began to transition to an endemic phase. It created the ability to heal ourselves emotionally and focus on our mission and future. Our community is experiencing tremendous growth, our workforce is facing tremendous challenges, and our community is relearning how to be civil to one another.

In this environment, U of U Health has reinvented itself to expand knowledge, train a new generation, and develop new models of care that serve our growing community. We have finally emerged from the long process of selecting four new multidisciplinary programs to expand our services at Destination Care.

The process began as a request for proposals in the summer of 2022, with 18 nominations received. Entries represent multiple disciplines, disciplines and over 40 different specialties. These exceptional specialty programs demonstrate high levels of quality and excellence achieved through excellence in patient care, education, research and innovation, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

These nominees were reviewed by a committee representing University Hospital and the U of U Medical Group, resulting in four finalists. They are: Our organization is inclusive, creatively solves problems and continuously learns. Execution Strategy 2025 helps us focus on what matters most: our
people, our patients and developing the next generations of knowledge and healthcare professionals.

Innovate Care

These programs cross over between U Health and the Huntsman Cancer Institute or Primary Children’s. We plan to implement models that streamline care coordination between these organizations to better serve patients as they travel to receive their care at U Health and cross-specialty.

These efforts speak to the high level of quality, expertise and collaboration within our system. We tailor care to patients based on their specific needs and move them seamlessly through our system. We strive to provide stability for these care providers so they can continue their careers here.

Academics come first at Utah State University. By fostering diversity of thought and culture and serving the public through learning, innovation and engagement, USU stands as one of the nation’s premier student-centered, land-grant and space-grant universities.
