Students are expected to complete the program and degree requirements according to the catalog year in which they are registered as degree seekers, who complete the degree requirements over a continuous period not to exceed eight years.

Johnson is the associate principal at Moore Elementary School. She also served as Associate Principal of Lewis Central Community Schools (LCCS) in Council Bluffs.

In addition to her leadership experience, Johnson has been an advisor to two area education associations, Heartland and Green Hills. She began her career as a classroom teacher in Winton-Shellsburg, then taught at LCCS before becoming an instructional strategist there.
Johnson graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She holds a master’s degree in elementary reading and language arts from the University of Northern Iowa. She is also a graduate of Prairie Lakes AEA’s Iowa Principal Leadership Academy.
She succeeds Windsor Elementary Principal Scott Nichols, who will become the new principal at Cattell Elementary this summer. “I can assure you that the leadership team, the Board of Trustees and I have left no stone unturned in an effort to avoid this day,” Pino said in his letter.
“Our efforts have been great and unceasing, and although none of us wanted this day to come, we realize that to properly honor Finland’s 126-year heritage, we must complete its activities with grace and dignity.” With more than 31,000 students and nearly 5,000 employees, Des Moines Public Schools has many stories to tell about the work and accomplishments that happen every day.

As a first step, we have signed a memorandum of understanding with Finland to identify students who have earned at least 60 credits in Finland and whose academic programs match the available programs in technology.
Those students are eligible to complete their studies at Michigan Tech. Students with fewer than 60 credits are eligible to apply to Michigan Tech as transfer students. Pinau continued: “As Finland’s leadership, our focus must now be on making sure that all of our students have good options to complete their education at another institution and that we can fulfill our intention to pay our employees for the whole thing. They have worked tirelessly at this small Finnish-Lutheran school in the northern part of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
.” The people of Des Moines elect seven members to serve as their representatives on the school board. In turn, the board is responsible for the governance of Iowa’s largest public education provider. To support Wartburg College’s efforts toward sustainability, the 2015-16 Academic Catalog is available as an interactive online resource for curricular information. Although it is the student’s responsibility to know and observe all college policies and procedures, students may print pages and information related to their program.
In the future, Wartburg will offer students the option to create their own portfolio of academic information, which can also be accessed via a mobile app. Prospective students have access to the same catalog features to help them plan their education.

Cattell Elementary Scott Nichols will become the new principal at Cattell Elementary this summer. He is in his 11th year as principal at Windsor Elementary School. He also served as dean of students at River Woods Elementary School.
Prior to coming to DMPS, Nicholas worked for 15 years as an elementary and middle school teacher in Humboldt-St. Marie and Knoxville (IA) school districts, where he was part of several district-wide efforts ranging from the Iowa Core Curriculum to student behavior.
Nicholas holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Iowa State University and a specialist degree in effective teaching, learning and leadership – curriculum and educational leadership – both from Drake University. Nichols replaces Cattell’s current principal, Tiona Sandbulte, who will become principal of Stowe Elementary School.
“Due to a combination of demographic changes, fewer high school graduates available, a sharp drop in interest among graduates to go to college, and an unsustainabl
e debt burden, I am saddened to announce that the Finnish Board of Trustees has met and decided not to admit students for the 2023-2024 academic year,” the board’s statement reads.

Brubaker Elementary Please welcome Ashley Intalangsi to the position of Principal at Brubaker Elementary School. She serves as assistant principal at Edmonds Elementary School, where she also served as dean of students. Intalangsi began her career with DMPS in 2005 as an elementary school teacher at Adams and Garton elementary schools.
She became the Literacy Leader at Samuelson Elementary School and served as a Literacy Instructional Coach, 21st Century Coordinator, TLC Training Coach and Dean of Students at Oak Park Elementary School for eight years. Intalangsi holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Coe College in Cedar Rapids and two master’s degrees, one in effective teaching and learning and one in educational leadership, from Drake University.
Mark Adams, current principal of Brubaker Elementary, will be DMPS manager of talent and personnel. Capitol View Elementary Capital View Elementary School welcomes Ben Graber as its new principal for the 2023-2024 school year. Graeber is in his sixth year as a high school principal in North Korea.
Before becoming principal, Graber worked for more than a decade as an English and journalism teacher at North and East high schools and as a school improvement leader at North. Graeber graduated from Roosevelt High School with a BA in English and Literary Studies from Beloit College and holds two master’s degrees, one in curriculum and instruction from the University of Washington and another in educational leadership from Drake University.
The district is currently searching for a new principal for North Middle School. I would first like to thank everyone for welcoming students from Finland to the NMU community. The Nordics and Finland are in the process of signing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for NMU: Finland offers a number of programs, including nursing, criminal justice, psychology and business, in addition to NMU’s programs.

As you can imagine, it was not an easy decision to come to the university, and I am sure you will join me when I say that we will do everything we can to support the nearly 400 Finnish students and 170 members of the Northern community.
Faculty and staff. . In a letter to Finland students, faculty and staff, Finland President Timothy Pino wrote to his community that the decision follows months of massive efforts and continuous and repeated efforts to resolve financial and enrollment struggles at the University of Finland.
